PRO2JE's 2005 Subaru Legacy

Burgs New Project

About 5 months back i traded in my last car "PR02JE" for a MY05 Liberty 3R Spec B sedan. I brought the car because of the extensive features it offered, the car stock offered things like full leather interior, sunroof, bilstien suspension and the 2 things that make the car extremely enjoyable to drive the 3.0l H6 sporting 180kw at the fly wheel and just shy of 300nm of torque and the 6 speed close ratio STI Gear box.

Initially, i was chasing some sort of exhaust note as the car is a very free reving 6 cylander and i wanted it to sing some nice tunes. So i went and visited Hitech mufflers in Sydney and they fitted a pair of stainless steel Hitech mufflers. the end result was a smooth sweet but subtle note, that sounds awsome on full throttle. On the way home from sydney we saw noticably better fuel economy and suggested power gains of 5 to 7 kw at all fours didnt seem out of the question as it seemed to pull a little harder, through some research i found out other H6's with simular exhaust changes found dyno proven gains around 5-10 kw at all fours.

Next on the to do list was to sharpen up the cars appearance on the road and make it stand out over your more standard libs, i decided to fit a set of 19" wheels on the car, after 3 different sets of rims on the car, i found the perfect set which really set the car appart from most liberty's and maintained the cars classy lines with a set of 19x8" G-Max M190s.

With the new rims, it was pretty clear that it needed to be lowered and with the car already sitting relatively nice stock, i didnt really need to drop it much to get agressive stance i was after. After looking around at some of the more expensive options for springs, i settled for a cheaper brand which i had used on my past 2 cars and they performed well, the result was a 35mm drop on the front and 30mm drop on rear of the car with the use of king spring lows. The car handles somewhat better with the new springs and the car looks alor sportier.

So far my mods are pretty minimal but in the next 12 to 18 months, i plan on doing the following mods:

Sti Front Lip
Whiteline front and rear sway bars
Sti Strut brace
Full engine back Stainless Steel Exhaust System
Cold Air Induction
Some form of after market engine management tweaks

Desired results are around 220 to 230 kw at fly wheel and a car that can hold its own if i take it on cruises or to the race track

More photos should be up next sunday night after the car enters Tomago Show and Shine with Team Ground Zero Newcastle Chapter.

Wow very nice! I'm seriously considering getting rid of the jetta and getting the Legacy turbo. I'm ready to upgrade to the AWD turbo. :)

Very nice ride. Great combo of wheels and suspension especially. Legacy's want to, no need to be modified.Subaru gives us a basically good car. Now we get to make it our own great car. Keep up the great mods and enjoy your Legacy/Liberty. Check out mine when you get a chance.
