Thanks for visiting my page and checking out Project Charged!
The car was built on June 20th, 1969. It was built and shiped directly to Crosstown Motors in Edmonton Alberta, thats right..its a Canadian built car (not many of those). It was T5 Copper Metallic with black interior. The guy who ordered the car checked off one of the coolest interior options in my opinion; vinyl seats with cloth inserts. The guy wanted comfort! He also got the car with a buddy seat. The car had a 318 with an automatic column shift.
My dad bought the car for me when I was 6 for Christmas. It was used as a parts car for a guy who owned a '69 R/T. After he was done with it, he left it to rot in a field next to his house. We purchased the car from him for $400 back in 1998.
I watched Dukes Of Hazzard A LOT when I was younger. I recorded every episode (way before the DVD series came out) and I had lots of Dukes stuff. Remember those diecast 1/25th scale General Lees? I wrecked over 5 of those by trying to attempt jumps from the show. The diecasts didnt do too good. I'd take them to school and at lunch, I'd launch them off the playground and onto the concrete. Needless to say, all I have left from those diecasts is one body, a broken off cowl, a wheel and a hood!
So when I got my Charger, of course my first plan was to make it a General Lee (hence the Vectorish wheels on the front). Well over the years, my plan changed and I wanted a R/T clone. I went back and forth between colours (blue, red, charcoal grey and copper) until last year (2007) when I finally decided. A member on dodgecharger.com posted a picture of his '68 Hemi R/T. It was silver with a black R/T stripe and Billet Vintage Magnum 500 wheels. When I saw that car, I wanted my '69 to look like that! A member over on dodgecharger.com (DS440) is a pro at photoshop and he made me a rendering of a '69..designed exactly how I wanted it. Its almost exactly the same as the '68 R/T but with my own little tweaks. I've been really getting into open road racing, Autocross and Bullrun type events lately (thanks to Mike..aka Mr.Angry) and I've decided I want my '69 to be pro-touring.
