Ok I finally got around to paint my car, i'm going to log everything i'll be doing in the next week.

The first matter of business is to decide a color. I definatley don't want it red, black would be cool but there are so many red and black camaros it gets old after a while. I've always liked blue so I started thinking of electron blue the GM color. The night before I had to order the toners for the paint I changed my mind and decided to go with Sonic Blue instead.

Day 1 - I started at 6pm and stopped at 12AM.

Yes the car was artic white before, the people did a pretty good job of painting it but it looks like they didn't remove a whole lot in the rear. The first thing I did was strip everything off the car. I will be leaving the front bumper on while i'm painting it though. My quarter was pretty banged up after years of ex girlfriends and careless people that like to smash their door into it.

It took me an hour to wetsand each side with 600grit paper. Take into account that there are a lot of blemishes here and there I had to sand out.

Here is the 98+ SS spoiler I will be putting on the car.

After working 16 hours in a day with no food you start to get delerious so I decided to shut it down at 12.

Day 2
I got in at 11AM this morning and I started to worry about the toners I need to make the paint. I mapped everything out, ordered what I needed and by the time I got back it was around 1:30.

It's a real bitch to tape up when you have to do the jambs also. It took me about 3 hours to tape the whole car up.

Here is the car sealed with 825 tintable sealer. I ran into some problems sealing the front of the car so I wasted about 2 hours to wetsand it down again and reseal the whole car.

Time is running out, it's now about 9pm and the car needs to be based or the sealer is no good. I started making up the base when I found out I didn't have enough of one of the toners to make the sonic blue. When your making 3 quarts of paint you dont' realize how much it really is. So some quick deciding I used "bright blue" instead of "blue" to makeup the amount I needed. So it isn't quite sonic blue anymore, but very close, maybee a little brighter. Heres some pics of the car based. Take into account this is just base, and this is a pearl paint. So the way the flash hits the paint makes it differ a little in the way it really looks.

Day 2 complete at 10:00pm.

Day 3
Well, I took a day off but this morning we cleared the car during work. After work I stayed and wetsanded the whole car down with 1200 grit to get runs and dirt out of it. Heres a pic of when it first came out of the booth. It looks so amazing outside though.

Day 4 & 5
Sorry don't have any more updated pics. Tuesday I spent the night 3000gritting the whole car with an orbital sander then I buffed it and black foam paded it and finished it up around 10.

Wednesday I still have the hood, hatch, spoiler, bumper, and center peice left to prep for paint so I spent the whole night getting those done. I got them done but barely til around 10.

Days... lost cunt
Well it's been almost 2 weeks, and I finally got the car done, i stopped taking pics in the process because all thats left is basically buffing and putting back together. I finally got to drive the car home tonight and I must say it is so amazing looking. Just about 90% of the people turned their heads because there is nothing like it seen before really. In the daylight it looks sorta like a regular quasar blue but once the light hits it the pearl kicks in and you can see a rosish flip to it. It's very cool. I can only unvail 2 pics right now though. They are very bad pics because of night but oh well.
