Back in 1995 Me and a buddy bought this 1950 Buick Special fastback as a project we could work on and have some fun. Not wanting to spend very much money at any one time we have done all the work our selves. The Buick was found in the yard at a trailer park near Stillwater, OK.

The windows were mostly busted out and the water had rotted the floors to the point of being useless.

The original straight 8 engine was dismantled and the cylinder head was in the trunk. Critters were living in the interior and it was decrepit. Otherwise the body was in decent shape.

Wanting to upgrade the whole suspension and drive train we went looking for a donor car. The first bargain car we found was a 1974 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. It had been donated to the Red Cross in Oklahoma City and a person we knew told us about this $100 car. Getting it home was a chore. It took two days to get it 65 miles and cost us the engine in a friend's car hauler.

This is the really fun part of a project like this. We cut the whole Cadillac body off leaving only the chassis, floorboards and firewall. These are the things that will be transplanted under the Buick. With a gas can and battery sitting on the passenger floor we actually drove the thing around just as you see it. The old 472 engine was so tired it wouldn't even spin the tires.

The Cadillac wheelbase was a few inches too long to match up with the Buick body so we shortened it by cutting a piece out by the rear seat foot wells. It got butt welded back together then gusseted for strength.
