For those who are skeptical about fiesta's and think there a waste of time, I'm here to tell you that you couldn't be more wrong! Even stock, a fiesta can get up and go. But for those who know, fiesta's have the same high compression 1.6L as the Formula Ford race cars. And most all the high performance parts fit like a glove!
The story-
So about 3 years ago I had a 1989 Nissan Sentra, and the thing blew up on me. And me being young and irresponsible with money, I couldn't afford to get it fixed. So naturally I called every last one of my family members for some dough to borrow. and not one of them had any to spare. Then I called my aunt and she told me that her dad had passed away not long ago from stroke related problems and that she inherited his car. She said I could have it for free if I wanted. I didn't care what it was, as long as it ran. So she dropped it off at my house and low and behold it was a yellow 1978 ford fiesta S! Low Low miles, only 73,000 when I got it (now around 85k)interchangable moon roof, delay wipers, the works! And suprisingly quick! I fell in love with that car, and would never sell it.
I recently aquired a new job, and was driving the little yellow beast to and from, when a coworker approched me and asked if I was the owner of the Fiesta out in the parkinglot? I gleefully shook my head yes and told me he to had a 1978 Ford Fiesta S. White, lowered with strut bars, performance springs, 4-2-1 header with a straight pipe to a glass pack, high rise intake with a larger weber carb, bored to a 1.9L, shaved head, no emissions crap, k&n air filter, 8mm plug wired and a mallory coil, bigger cam, bigger pistons. Basically everything I wanted to do to my car except a dual carb conversion. And he asked me if I wanted to by it!!! HECK YEAH I WANNA BUY IT!!! I couldn't believe my ears! I instantly asked him how much.. thinking easilly over a grand. and he said $500! I shook his hand and said deal. It took me 2 weeks to save up the money but I finally got it! All that was wrong with it was an annoying exhaust leak where the header meets the straight pipe. So I doubled up the gasket and crossed my fingers and it hasen't leaked since! That and the heater motor doesn't work so I'm gonna take the one out of my other fiesta. This car is almost twice as fast as the stock one so fiesta enthusiasts, beef your mk1's up cause it's well worth it! All in all I'm a serious fiesta lover and if you make it out to Salem, Oregon and happen to see a white '78, don't even try. Which reminds me, I raced and beat a Toyota GT-APEX the other day..
