Okay, I just got this car and the more I look into it the more I am confused. From what I know its a 1972 500 with a 302 motor, however I have looked at similar years on this site and do not see any with what I understand is called the "fishmouth" or "troutmouth" grill. What do I have here? Body is straight and I want to paint it, any color ideas. I am thinking a dark red to go with the vinyl top.

Has a Holly 2barrel carb. Thinking of adding headers and glasspacks, will a 4barrel carb fit?

The interior is still drying out, think the window was left open. Seats are in good conditon just need cleaning. Saving the interior for last.

Any feedback, ideas or thoughts would be great!

A four barrel carb should work. My advice, save your money and buy a Demon. They are more pricy but, they're well worth it.

This is a nice ride, I have the same but it is the classic red. I am still going to put a white stripe down the side still. CVheck it out sometime!

That is a "Fishmouth" Ranchero. 1972 Ranchero/Gran Torino was a one year only design on the Front end because of new bumper safty requirements by the government for the 1973 model year. From the door back the '72 is the same as 73-76. check out Ranchero.US if you have not already. good luck on your project.

Great looking prodject car. Should go with the dark red paint with gold metalic flake in the paint. Check out my 58 Chevy wagon sometime.
