AHA, a very very suprising car, After i dropped the tranny and replaced it with a more ballsy one....I then fabbed in a 4.3L vortec(i don't have pics of it as my pc ded and the photos along with it, but i made a disk and as soon as i get it i will post up the photos of the fab job)....these are all from a previous photo shoot....when i first got it....sadly.
Either way, the 4banger 2.5 was OK, but it didn't have the powerband i wanted for the car, So, having had a previous car with a vortec, i went junkyard diving and found this lil' 4.3 from an astro(almost the same one i had), it took 6 weeks and 8 guys to fab it all out. And then we took it for a test drive....to bad the rear main seal didn't want to work right and we had to kill the run halfway through.
We took it back, did some troubleshooting and then took the car apart....again, we redid the whole entire engine in titanium/alloy seals and upgraded the cams and valvetrain.
that took 2 more months.
After we all finished it, It was taken on a brutal test run,
Much to our suprise, It did quite well, even when loaded down with 4 guys weighing no less than 185 each.....it managed a 0-60 in 7 seconds....my mazda can barely do that with just me in it.
She is currently in the shop again getting a paintjob(gloss black with gray fade streaks down the side), and it is also getting a brake upgrade, It will be running all wheel disk brakes.
Future mods will be a super charger, and possibly even a larger exhaust.
