Well, I suppose now my Triumph has a home here on my Miata page. I'm sure there's a CarDomain-type site out there for bikes, but I just don't care to have another subscription, another password, and another chance of getting spammed into oblivion.

So, here's what I got done today (31 May 08):

For quite some time now, my mirrors have been loose at the joint. For those of you who don't know, the Sprint ST has a hinge on the mirror so you can clip a car or drop the bike or whatever without breaking your mirror too bad. Well, the design of the hinge involves a serrated stem and washer. After the hinge bends over and over again, the washer moves up and puts less pressure on the joint, resulting in a loose, floppy mirror.

I decided to take some advice from a member of a Sprint ST email list I'm on and fix it 'in-house', just not IN my house. Actually it was done IN Ace Hardware in Ooltewah, TN. And, yes, I mean IN the hardware store.

They were cool enough to say "hey, bud, why not bring the bike in here?" after watching me grab a bolt, walk outside. Come back in. Grab another size bolt. Walk outside. Come back in.

Ad infinitum.

So, anyway, after a few experiments with different sizes and such, I have come up with this.

I used 2 each of the following, one for each mirror hinge:

10x24 1.25" dome head, counter-sunk machine bolts
7/16" washer (this fits just over the center post)
M5 fender washer
10x24 nylon-type lock nut

So, there you have it. And it doesn't really seem all that conspicuous under the mirror arm cover.

Well, I hope you found this useful. If you want any more pics, you can always ask.

Nice job on your '91. The NB top and the subtle Racing Beat body kit really to make a nice effect. Can't wait to see it painted.

Thanks for the comments. I also had an RX7 with the same. Mine was an '87 TurboII. Also had a black spoiler that added for a nice look. I like your Miata as well, very nice ride. Keep up the good work!
