2002 Honda Civic EX Coupe

For rock crawling I fabricated a hand throttle.  It's made out of Bicycle parts and is mounted on the gear shifter.  It has fluid movement, instead of clicking between 7 or 8 different speeds.

This is an old pic of my dash. It got old real fast.  So I changed the entire interior to solid black (it was grey stock).

The carpet is removed and I put bed liner down on the floor.  3 coats every where, 4 coats at peoples feet and in the bed.

Here is a DIY write up I did on bed lining my truck

Grant GT steering wheel. Ever since I've turned 16 I've wanted this exact steering wheel.  When I got my X I finally had a vehicle with out an air bag. Yay, that means a steering wheel conversion was in order!

Front and back seat covers. The rear are water proof.  The front are neoprene with water proof covers under neath of them (lots of people don't realize that neoprene isn't water proof).

For my custom switch panel I removed the ash tray, cut all the brackets off the back of the panel, turned it upside down, drilled holes in it, and screwed it on.  I have 4 illuminated (different colors) switches and one 3 position switch.  Fogs, Aux. Rev. Lights, Aux. Radiator Fan, Arm Winch Controle, Winch Controle.  I also bought an external power adapter (just to the left of the CB) because the old adapter was inside the ash tray.

I moved the CB from the pic above.  It is now flush mounted in the center console. Now I don't have to lean way over to adjust squelch and such.  I had to cut the front part of the storage bin, just about an inch and a half or so.   I made a new front with wood, similar to the glove box (described below).  And that piece of wood is what the CB is actually attached to.  There used to be a coin holder in the console where the CB is now.

Unfortunately I've blown this CB.  I have a much better replacement.  A Uniden PC 66.  I'll throw some pics up once I get it mounted.  It's going infront of the gear shifter, just below the aux switch pannel with an external speaker where the old CB originally sat (in pic above).  I might even hook up a PA system.  I've got a horn lying around, so I figure why not.

I've also installed a switch ignition / push button starter.  There is one switch for accessories, one switch for the ignition, and the push button.  I installed this for looks, yes, but also so I could let my truck warm up in the winter (it gets cold in Boone) with out having to worry about people stealing it.  I left the steering column lock functional, so the truck will run perfectly with out the key, but you can't drive it anywhere because the steering wheel is locked.  I can lock the door while it's warming up too.
Here is a DIY for the push button starter

You can see the stock firewall hole is almost completely full with wires and breather tubes entering the cab.

You can just barely see the rear axle breather tube entering the cab.

I relocated my computer to behind the glove box to raise it up higher for water crossings.  Left is a pic of the old location in the passenger side kick panel.  Right is a pic of the new location, right behind the glove box.   I gained about 10" from this.  The reason I did this was because during long water crossings, or when the doors are off :-), quite a bit of water comes in.  And if it reaches the computer it can short it out and stall out the truck.  Even on a short crossing, if you get stuck you only have about 3 or 4 min. to get out before enough water comes in to get to the computer.

To make room for the computer I had to trim off the back of the glove box.  I used a piece of 3/8 pine to make a new back to the glove box to keep it functional.  Left is before trimming, right is after trimming and installing the new back with Liquid Nails.

Edit: The Liquid Nails failed after 14 months.  I tried again, this time with JB Weld.  Will update if it ever gives me problems again.

Installed there is still enough room for an owners manual, spare fuses, spare tail light bulb, and a little to spare. And you can hardly notice I did anything to it.

Here is a DIY write up I did on relocating my computer

I hardwired a 750 watt power inverter and mounted it on the back of the center console.  Now I can run corded power tools for on-trail repairs, or recharge my cell phone, etc.

I cut out a section in the side of the bed and mounted a 6 gallon water can.  I'm very happy with the results, it hardly took any storage space.

hey thanks for the comments on my ex. you've got the doorless mod i want to do, which looks like it came out great. thats an awesome ex you have. to answer your question, i did have to do a little trimming of the wheel wells in the front for the tires to clear at full turn.
