Passing the torch. After I sold my Buick in the fall of 2004 (School/Financial reasons) I picked up this 95 Dodge Neon. The idea was to use it as a winter car, and then find something I'd actually like driving the following spring, which I did with my 01' Chrysler Neon. (Can be seen
here)
The name 'Sandra' was given by my good friend Jane. Shortly after we met, we started joking around at the poor Neon's expense. Forget exactly how the name came about, something about Dirty Sandy because the car was always covered in grime and dirt.... oh well.
Honestly not sure what trim this car is... never cared too much to look. It has an aftermarket Panasonic CD deck, its only upgrade. But I dont care, its good on gas and easy to drive. Not a fan of the 3speed auto, but meh - it only has to work during the winter.
It had dents, scratches and various other battle scars... even though it was going to be a winter car, I still wanted to clean it up. I spent a few days doing some body work and paint to give it a new lease on life. I still have to buy a new hood, the original wasn't worth saving.
The roof was the worse. The previous owner would punch it when he was upset. It had ripples all the way down the drivers side. All gone now.

Don't get me wrong, I have no intention of letting this thing die over time. It does need some minor engine work like plugs, wires and ignition. I may install a better air-intake solution, the stock is terrible and mounted in a bad position. Once I get the wheels/tires for my 01' , im gonna give the old 15's off of it new rubber, and slap them on the 95.
Maybe even a spoiler just for kicks :p
It does however desperately need new headlamp assembly's. The stock ones are tarnished yellow. I think the cleartype from various vendors are in order, however I am concerned about how they will fair in cold weather. (Many owners report them cracking around the seal).
It runs great, and I've had very little trouble with it. It's head gasket is even leak-free!!! Not the norm, thats for sure. I also found out that it has every recall/service bulletin addressed.
