1969 big block Chevy Nova SS with all #'s confirmed to be matched. I bought this car from a friend with the intention of creating a daily driven, numbers matched street rod. I want to combine the aggressive styling of the 60's with the technology of today to create a well mannered street monster. All of this is to be done by me and my buddies in my driveway, how is that for all you shade tree mechanics on this site!!
Triple Black color combination from the factory - Paint, seats and vinyl top were all black. Although a vinyl top option came on the car from the factory I am not reinstalling it, otherwise, I am going to keep it in its original colors, even though Hugger Orange is my all time favorite for this car.
396 Big Block as it was on the day we got the car, lots of work to do!
Pulled the motor, front clip, and front suspension and steering components so that new parts can be installed easily and the frame can be treated to a fresh coat of paint
Once we verified the 396 Big Block #'s matched we decided to swap it for a freshly "warmed over" 350 bored .60 over with a set of Edelbrock aluminum heads and all new all chrome parts and chrome accessories. We ordered a Lunati cam, lifters and springs before it was dropped in. Stock crank, rods and pistons were retained to help control my costs. We also ordered a Holley 780 cfm, MSD 6A ignition box mated to a Mallory ditributor and a Holley electric fuel pump keeps the juices flowing. The entire motor is going to be chrome except the block, and I have to say it will be pretty, but a little tacky at the same time. Less would have been more in this case, I guess?
I finally got the delivery from Jegs, in it I received Edelbrock Performer 40cc aluminum heads, which are to be ported and polished, MSD 6A ignition, Hooker Headers, Scorpion roller rockers, Pink rods, Lunati cam and lifters, Endurashine Air Gap Manifold, GM chrome one wire alternator, chrome water pump, chrome oil pan, Holley 780cfm carburator, chrome valve covers, chrome air cleaner, chrome fuel pump block-off plate, Hayes racing clutch and pressure plate assembly, fiberglass 4" cowl induction hood and a set of fiberglass fenders. I also got the ARP bolt kit and copper head gaskets - Fel-Pro gasket set the whole nine yards.
