Sweet Deal
After my uncle Frank returned from Viet Nam, my father, being a proud Marine himself, bought this '61 for him. After a while it ended up back in my fathers hands. My sister was privileged enough to drive it through high school and a portion of college (De was the one who named the Vette Corrie). My brother and I drove it from time to time (my senior prom comes to mind).
After years of hard miles, the front end was shot, the body had taken some licks and it was parked...
My sister had passed on by the time my father also went to hot rod heaven. He wrote in his will that my uncle, my brother and myself could deal with the car.
BroDave and I decided we could not afford to restore it, so Frank was handed the wheel... It went to shop after shop and 10 months later we were pleased to welcome her back into the stable.
Frank was retiring, so he made Dave and myself a deal... we would buy the Vette off of him to supplement his income. Brilliant!
We made joint payments for a time and soon my Bro needed to back out of the deal, so I went to my loving wife and asked if we could afford the whole payment... SHE SAID YES, I said WOW, How about right now?
Anyway, "Corrie" has seen 7 shows and has won 10 trophies! Including best of show 2X, three first places, Best paint and people's choice.
We are lucky to have her and will more than likely, pass her on to our son when hot rod heaven calls!
