This page is for my '79 Malibu toy. I now have a good DD that I aquired on 5/3/07, so I can now get aggressive with her.

6-24-07
Went to the track last friday hoping for some good times with my new purchase/installation of a pair of Hooker Competition headers, over my rotted out old Flowtech headers. I went to a track I never raced at before, Capitol Raceway, & I don't know how to compare its times with other tracks yet since I changed things around. My best run was a 14.61@91mph, with a 2.03 60Ft...with another 14.67@90.6 with a 2.05...my short times was good on the 2 runs it somehow hooked, but the car just did not feel "right" in 3rd gear. It didn't pull as hard as it normally does. Overall, I feel I won't return to that track to race...I had almost no traction (11 out of 13 runs I spun), too much time was wasted between rounds of cars, & its a uphill track.

I get my 3.73 SS posi-trac rear next weekend, & I'm going to return to either Cecil or Mason for good runs hopefully sometime late July after I get a helmet & driveshaft loop in anticipation for 13s.

She ran 14.37@94mph at Cecil County Dragway.

my times were all over the place, cuz i was experimenting with different launches & shift points, i made 20 runs that day, & i made 2 14.37 runs, & 2 14.39 runs, plus a handfull of 14.40s too, so the .37 was definetly not a fluke. These times were with a rotted out set of Flowtech headers.

Current specs are (as of 6-24-07)

-'79 Malibu Classic 4dr, 3250lbs (without me, & 1/2tank of gas)

-'83 305
-Carter 625AFB on a Elderbrock Torquer 2 intake
-used Elderbrock Performer cam with Lunati lifters (new), Zoom double roller chain
-Proform "race" distributor, MSD Superconducter wires, & NGK V-Power plugs
-Hooker Competition headers 1 5/8"X 3"
-Pypes dual 2.5" x-pipe exhaust w/ Flowmaster 40series mufflers, Jegs 3" header extentions, & Flowmaster reducer cones
-electric cooling fan from a '94 3.3L Caravan

-ATI TH350 with a reverse pattern, full manual valve body, Kevlar clutches, 36-element sprag, heavy duty steel drum, & i think 2 more things i cannot remember, lol
-ATI 10" #408320 torque converter, ATI 153T flexplate & locking dipstick
-G-force crossmember

-7.5" 3.08 OPEN rear...replaced with 7.625" 3.73 Posi rear!
-one air bag in the right rear spring, set at 27PSI
-215/60-15 tires for the street, i swap to 295/50-15 old as dirt Dunlops for the track
-stock original F41/heavy suspension
-core support crossbars

-gutted interior

-InLine tube stainless hard brake lines
-Russell Stainless braided flex brake lines

-homemade HID kit, using Pilot H4 conversions
-xenon back up bulbs
-civic sidemarker taglight, lol

Very soon I will be aquiring a MCSS 3.73 posi-trac rear, after consulting with some experts (which confirmed my guess) the car should be in the upper 13s with no other changes.

Also I'm getting a new set of Hooker Competition headers to replace my rotted out Flowtechs, I wonder how she will run with them.

Shes been thru a number of different engine & tranny conbinations, everything from the stock 305/th200/2.29s t0 a 350/th200/2.29s, 267/200R4/3.08s, & many more

I have alot of history with this car, & i plan to keep making it for much longer :)
