Before cleaning:

I started with ripping out all the alarm harnesses and stereo wire that was left from the previous owners. In all, about a hundred feet of wire along with dozen or so empty ciggarette packs and assorted garabage was removed.

In the process I discovered a pair of Infinty Refernce series speakers in the dash.

I quickly called my father and asked him to ship me the older Sony stereo that I had stored in the filing cabinet (came out of a Honda that I owned). It was nice to have music again after three months without it(the truck had no radio when I recieved it).

Once I had the interior cleaned I began thowing around the Idea of a bucket seat install to replace the broken, dirty bench seat.

I took a trip to Astoria Auto Wrecking and began to look in the vehicles on hand. I took my tools and my tape measure and measured the seats in several pickups on site (they had no Mazdas, only Toyotas and Nissans). Then I got the idea of, why not car buckets?

I went and measured several different cars and found that none would fit. I was ready to go home for the day when I saw a 1998 Dodge Neon sitting in the back corner, amongst some bigger vehicles (which are why I didn't see it first off).

I measured the seats and found them to be an almost perfect fit....

Driver seat installed in about five minutes, passenger seat was about the same. They fit right in and look like they belong there.

Then only modification to make these seats a direct bolt in would be to flip the inside rear mounting "feet" side for side.

I also added the Grant Steering wheel and Autometer "Autogauge" tach as well about a month later.

Old wheel, with new tach.

Tach with new red bulb, as the old white bulb was too bright at night.

New Grant Challenger steering wheel. The tach is off to the right, mounted on the side of the guage cluster.

The seat covers were a gift for the wife, but she didn't like the way they fit the leather seats in the van (she said they slipped around to much). I had bought them for her because she likes Leopard print. So much so that we had a leopard print comforter!

So I snagged em for use in the truck.
