This truck now belongs to my fater-in-law. b>

While the Miata sits in the garage "patiently" waiting on spring. I decided to buy this 97 Ranger a couple of weeks ago.
Hey," I needed something to work on.

I added the rims this afternoon.

They are ASA TRS series rims. In case you were wondering.

I plan to use the truck for pulling the boat to the lake and for the daily 17 minute drive to work everyday.

I intend to replace the intake manifold gaskets this weekend since I have the famed water leak under it. Also I have an oil leak that will be fixed as well. Like I said I needed something to work on. I have been very bored.

UPDATE: Well the Intake gasket and the front seal went as planned. The intake wasn't too bad of a job. I struggled with the fuel lines a little bit trying to get them seperated. Other than that it was not that big of a task.

The front engine seal was a bit of a pain, the pulley is so
deep to the bolts are very hard to reach. I didn't pull the radiator or the fan, I would at least pull the fan next time, maybe the radiator. Getting the seal out was about as hard as expected, and replacing it was pretty tricky but I used the old seal and my harmonic balancer puller along with the factory bolt and was able to press the seal into place.

One thing I noticed is the grove that was cut into the harmonic balancer by the seal was deeper than I expected, but I decided to go for it anyhow. The seal seems to be holding for now. If it fails in the near future I will replace the harmonic balancer with a salvaged one.

All said and done, the leaks are fixed now so I am happy.

Oh yeah, I forgot I ordered a replacement factory radio off ebay this weekend to. That should arrive in a couple of days.

The items left on the "to do" list are: Fixing the Intermittant Speedometer issue, (Any tips? Feel free to email me at bf2barrell(at)gmail.com (replace "(at)" with @). Haven't looked yet but pretty sure it's the electronic speedo.) getting the engine codes pulled, and looking into the antilock brake light that's on sometimes, replacing or repairing the damaged hitch reciever, repairing or replacing the rear bumper.
