WELCOME TO MY 68RS RESTORATION PAGE
I bought my camaro from Ebay almost 6 years ago. It had enough rust to make the average buyer take off running but I saw hope in this one. Upon receiving the car it looked nice in the black primer but after furthur investigation, I found rust and rot in almost every panel on the car. But I figured that since I got such a good deal on the car, it was going to be worth my while. Truthfully, it was worth it regardless. After replacing almost every body panel and most of the interior, I am almost finished with it.The following pictures document the process of this restoration and as you will see, it was a "FUN" one to do!
I removed the enigine (327) to rebuild it and reinstalled it.
Had to replace both quarters with 80% new ones as well as new outer wheel well lips.
Patched floor pans with partial pans cut to fit.
Plenty of rot in the upper dash panel and roof. It was originally a vinyl top.
Fabricated a patch for the door skin.
New roof and upper dash panels removed and replaced.
It was nice getting the first shot of primer! Shows progress finally!
Painted all the jambs, doors, hood, etc.
This is the present state of where I am with it so far. I am currently overseas for the next year and a half. (military) My car is peacefully resting stateside in a nice warm and dry enclosed location. It will take less than a year to complete everything I want to get done to it. The next step is to completely overhaul the front end with a new Hotchkis suspension and upgrade to 4 wheel disk brakes.
Update! Here are some recent photos of the car a friend took for me while I am away. I am going nuts without being able to work on it. It will be a little while longer until I get back so I have to wait but thats military life for ya.
Thanks for checking out my car!

Sweet ride! 5 stars. If your interested in a custom drawing of your car or maybe just a print of another, please check out my site at www.SketchesByChrisM.com One would look great next to your ride at a car show or just to display on your wall at your home, garage or shop.
Thanks -Chris (SBC)
