Alexander's 1987 Porsche 944 Turbo
This page is dedicated to my baby! If you've seen the movie Cars, you know what I'm talking about...the blue Porsche is named Sally.
I spend a lot of money on her, but she's worth it.
I bought the car from a guy in Vancouver who drove it from 86,000 km to 100,000 km...the owner before that was a Japanese COLLECTOR who, in 17 years, drove the car 86,000 km and had it maintained METICULOUSLY.
It came with a whole pile of service receipts, manuals and documentation in Kanji (Japanese writing)...which I can't read but they all have a Porsche stamp at the bottom and seem to be legitimate dealer and service documentation.
When first imported to Canada, it was inspected by a Porsche mechanic who performed a full 150-point inspection which the car passed with flying colours.
It still looks and feels like a brand-new car, and it has that well-put-together quality that most German cars have...nothing squeaks, rattles or shakes. In a 20-year-old car!
Now for the best part...the first owner bought this car in GERMANY and had it shipped to Japan, which means this is an EURO-SPEC 944 Turbo (also known as 951)! This shows primarily in the body...compared to regular 944s, you can see mine doesn't have the ugly black-plastic impact bumpers. That saves me some weight too. Compared to a regular 944, the 944 Turbo has enhanced aerodynamics with integrated foglights in the front bumper, and a lower rear spoiler.
I could go overboard modifying this car, but why bother? I see no reason to ruin it. I'd rather go with a moderate approach, keeping the car looking mostly stock with some enhanced performance. I want to make this car look like it was a special order from the factory. OEM+, which I'm a big fan of. Porsche knew what they were doing when they built this car.
Here are some complete specs...keep in mind this car is 99% stock. (And I'm in Canada so this is metric...except for power and torque, because I don't know the metric specifications)

A/C
This is not a 911, but it is just as loaded with performance and luxury as you would expect from a Porsche. This car, compared to the same year 911, has more power, more torque, and better weight distribution.
Please sign the guestbook, and check out the other pages for a list of mods done and on the way and my further plans regarding Porsches.

This little symbol makes the car superior to any other make!

The engine, all-alloy 8V 2.5L Turbo...power and efficiency in a compact package

The interior is like new...my favorite parts are the boost gauge (under the tachometer) and the speedo that goes to 300!

Wheels aren't great, but the tires are...not many treads, therefore a large amount of actual rubber gripping the road. Pretty much street-legal race rubber (also see the rear view)

Headlights are Porsche 928-like...round frog's eyes.
I think that C5 Corvette-style, square lamps would look better, or headlight buckets like a 924 Carrera GTS

This little badge makes the car a pure pleasure to drive!
Also, Porsche put a SHITLOAD of modifications on this car as compared to a 944, to cope with the extra power and speed from the turbo.

This is my favorite shot...it's my computer wallpaper
Me and my baby!
PS: This car has the same power-to-weight ratio as a modern Porsche Boxster, and handles just as well. During its production, it was the fastest 4-cylinder in the world...at the time, the 944 Turbo was as fast as the 911, but cheaper and easier to handle. Many thought that it would topple the 911 as the main Porsche product, but the 911 prevailed due to its fame, history and character. The 944 Turbo lived on as the 968 until 1995 and was then phased out.
The front-engined Porsches are gone, but they have made the Porsche experience available to many drivers looking for something different...such as me.
