This is Sheridans 88 G100 charade.
This page will let you see the progress of sheridans car during the 2006 and beyond.
The turbo screwed up and we could not get a replacment so it looked like a small aisin supercharger might be the go.
The Aisin amr500 supercharger finally arrived in the country early this year (2006).
Supercharger was fitted on a nice new fresh 1 ltr 3 cyl engine complete with new 2" boost guage on the dash.
The car now pulls like a train.....Its so kewl :-)
We converted the blower pulley to v belt so we could take advantage of the old mounts and aircon pulleys in the now free aircon location of the engine bay.
Blower mount bracket was hand made by our freind ernie ( The best panel guy in the country ) Ya cant buy blower kits for cb23 powered charades , Its all been done the old fashioned hard way.
Best guess for HP is about 100ish with a decent exhaust.
If ya dont recognise the front and rear bars its because they were hand made in the shed.
Skirts are from a 95 2 door charade .......they had to be chopped joined and modded in the shed to make em fit.
Paint is protec 2pak clear over base system also done in the shed.......We are real happy with the color blend we managed to get in the flames.
The seats are one of a kind hand done custom done by sheridan and her mum at home as well..not seat covers.
The interior custom door trims were also done at home by sheridan and her mum.
This little puppy has plenty of port and polish work done too her so it just loves that blower.
We discarded the original blow through carb in favour of a much simpler 1 3/4" SU draw through setup.
We gave a lot of thought to running on lpg with the blower...but finding room for the lpg tank killed that idea.
The car is all doof doofed with mp3 player , subs , etc
Street Glow is provided by Blue neons.
NOV 2006 Update :-
The SU carb has proved to be a pain in the butt so the decision was made to go for injection.
We were desperate to find the injection intake from a daihatsu cb90 engine but had no luck at all locating one.
So it was back to the shed and modify the standard intake manifold.
After much welding, cutting , die grinding and more welding we have managed to fit the single point injection from a 1990 Ford Falcon EA 3.9ltr 6cyl.
The pics on page 2 show the progress of the intake mods along with a pic of a standard intake alongside the now modded intake.
I think the pics tell the story.
The injection will be controlled by a Megasquirt programmable ECU that we built from a kit sourced on the internet.
( these ecu's are great google em for yourself)
We had to fit a 02 sensor for the injection setup so took the oportunity to add extractors and a 2 1/2 inch exhaust at the same time.
The injection and ecu and exhaust mods should make a huge difference to the pimpmobiles performance and reliability.
Update Jan 2007 :-
Finished the the mods to the intake and its now installed.
had to make huge mods to water flow as well as porting runners
etc.
See the intake pics on pages 2 and 3
Finished the installation of the Ford throttle body injection.
Finished the megasquirt and its now installed.
Hand fabricated TBI "hat" was finished and fitted by my freind Ernie....He did a awsome job !!! and the hat has provided the perfect place to fit the Air temp sender.
Had some issues with brake vacuum, heat, and boost now that we have a blow through setup instead of the draw through setup.
These issues are all now resolved....
Fitted a intercooler from a GM 4WD to solve the heat.
Fitted a blow off valve from a Saab to vent the boost between blower and TBI.
Changed the vacuum pickup points back onto the original manifold to solve the brake vacuum problems.
The car is now runnig well using the megasquirt ECU.
Fitted a one way valve in the vac line to brake booster to solve a vanishing blower boost problem.
We still have some fine tuning to do but getting close to final tune now.
WE have noticed significant hp gain since the mods but i dont have dyno tests to confirm yet.
Update March 6 2007 :-
Fitted a rising rate fuel regulator
Fitted electronic distributor
Fitted Volvo external electric fuel pump.
Fitted bigger fuel line to tbi and return back to tank.
The fuel map is now pretty much sorted and I can report that the pimpmobile is one slick mover :-)
Now to upgrade the rear drums to applause discs....maybe next month
24 June 2007
Just completed a new head with bigger stainless valves and bigger cam and truckloads of porting and polishing.
When the die grinder finally came to rest we ended up with flow figures measured at 28" of 120hp @ 500thou lift
Pretty darn impressive for a grocery getter i think and even better if you consider a rule of thumb is 8lb boost adds 50% to horse power.......wooohoooo!
The injectors in the ford tbi have proved to be too big for town driving and too small for wide open throttle so the search is now back on for factory injection from a USA cb90
engine.
If you can help me locate suitable injection or have one to sell please email me.
I am happy to buy from anywhere in the world so dont be shy contact me if you can help me get injected :-)
