Local Car Shows and Events
These are pictures of Vader taken during local car shows and events. Keep an eye out for new pictures on this page from future events. Maybe I will get lucky and take home some more trophies. WOOHOO!!
2006 Car Shows

This is one of the first shows that I went to with my newly formed group Fayetteville F-Body at JP Riddle Stadium in Fayetteville. I really had no clue about how to really show my car. I just parked it and talked to people if they walked up. It was really hot that day too...

This show was shortly after the JP Riddle show. It was held on July 4th 2006 and the cars were packed in there. I was slowly massing my show arsenal, but I didn't have much room to put it with the proximity of the cars next to me.

Ahhh...The Made in the Shade show. This was a nice change from the open shows I had attended previously. It was very nice, but I think we could have done without the sap from the trees. Notice anything new about my car in this show?

The Overhills Show, my first big break! Notice anything different about this show? This show was my first that I actually placed. It was a great feeling walking away with a trophy. I hope more follow as I continue to grow and fix Vader up bring the car back to its former glory. :D

This is the most recent show. Actually, this really wasn't a show. It was a cruise-in held by another local car club to support a local children's hospital donating old stuffed animals for the children who may not have a good Christmas. It was good to get out and do something meaningful that would be appreciated by those less fortunate. It also set a milestone with my group. This was the first event where we had more than two cars present. By the time we got ready to leave we had seven cars total out showing.
2007 Car Shows
The first show of the year...DropJawMag.com's Winter Tour Cruise 2007 came rolling through our town. It wasn't exactly our environment, but we made the best of it and showed anyway. We still had a pretty good time hanging out with each other and avoided the sea of rice parked behind us. My club at least took home one trophy for best Hot Rod that went to my friend Mike with his 2002 Camaro SS Limited Edition.

My car was also featured on Drop Jaw's on-line magazine covering the Winter Tour Cruise.

I missed most of the car show season of 2007 because Vader was broke. It pained me to miss out on something that I have grown to enjoy. Showing a car in a show is a great hobby that promotes Hot Rodding which helps mentor younger...and older alike...folks teaching them about cars and what makes them special to people. Whether it brings back memories of years gone by or their first car...even a car they once dreamed of owning. Car Shows give us that opportunity as enthusiast to share our passion with the masses.
I did manage to catch the tale end of the season with about three shows. WOOHOO!! It was nice being back out there. What was even better was the first show I attended (less than a week after I got vader back) I took home a "Top 30" trophy. I was estatic and wasn't expecting, but it was a nice suprise.

A couple of weeks later my club attended a benefit car show on base supporting Military Family Appreciation Week. I didn't win anything, but I was happy to support the event. We also had a pretty nice turnout with cars too. :D

2008 Car Shows
The first show of the season again this year was DropJawMag.com's annual Winter Tour Cruise. This year was a little better than last year. I didn't enter the show. I did however park with my fellow club members and displayed my car. I didn't really feel like going all out show with it considering that there was only one catagory for our type of cars. I still managed to make their website as a "SICKRIDE" for 2008 like I did in 2007. :)

The second show we attened this year was put on by another local car club, The Hope Mills Cruzers. We have a really good relationship with them so it's always nice to support their events because we know the favor will be returned. It was a banner event for us because we recruited two new members and everyone that attended from the club won a trophy. A first for Fayetteville F-Body!! It was cool. I took home a "Best of" category as well as one of our new members that took home the "Best of Show" award. It was a good day.

2009 Car Shows
Last year was a total bust because shortly after the above pictures were taken my car went down with the broken rocker stud brought on by the set of lifters that failed. After eleven long months of waiting and posting updates here my car is back! It's good to be back and on the show circuit. I enjoy going to shows because it's relaxing and I get to hang out with my friends from both my car club and the friends I've made from all the shows I've been to over the past three or four years. Vader has come a long way since then as has my show prowess in displaying the awesomeness of my car. One day I hope to be competetive at the Trans AM Nationals in Dayton, OH or the Southern Trans AM Nationals in Florida. For now though I'll continue to hit the shows in NC and SC building my skills as work on Vader continues.
My first show of the year ironically was my last show of last year. This year it was hot just like last year. We did;however, get a much better spot along the front row and under lots of shade until later in the afternoon. It was a good day because it was a repeat of last years performance with Vader taking a category award. With the help of the folks at Zeus Performance (...again :)...), Vader took home top honors in the 1987 and newer category for Best General Motors.

The 3d Annual Overhills H.S. Band Bike & Car Show was the second show I went to this year and it happened the following week after HMC show. It was a really nice day. We had a nice turn out from the club and again, everyone that entered took something home. The show was a "Top 50" show and wasn't broken down into categories like most shows are. I have to say though that this is by far my coolest award for the car to date. They didn't do the normal trophy that you get at other shows, instead they walked around and took photos of your car and put it on the plaque you recieved. Is that cool or what? I like it and it makes the award more personal than a peice of plastic.

The 11th Annual Mader in the Shade Classic Car/Truck show held in Elizabethtown, NC. We're debating on whether to go back next year since it is really a biased show. Out of the 300+ cars that were there, a vast majority of the awards went to new cars (2008 and up) in the categories we competed in. It is very difficult to compete against cars that are barely broken in. What frustrates us the most at shows is that they have nothing done to them. It would be different if it was a new car that had been modified, but we're talking cars with less than 500-miles on them in some cases. Then again, it isn't about the award. It's about furthering the hobby of the auto enthusiast and teaching a younger generation about good ole American muscle.
Any way, on to the pictures...

This was on the cruise out. We managed to get in line with some really cool old cars. :)

More shows to come... :)
