Literature and Awards:

On this page I've posted some literature that I've acquired for my GTA and some other cool stuff that I've got for it.  I've also posted up the awards that I've earned since I've owned my beautiful GTA.  It's not just a car...it's a work of art.  :)

I love this advertisement. It's an awesome picture because it is a 1988 GTA similar to mine. :)

Vintage magazine article and a couple Pontiac advertisements for the '88 Pontiac Trans AM GTA I won on eBay.

High Performance Pontiac ran an article back in 2007 about the GTA and it's creation.  For those of us that are members of the GTA Source Page we kind of got an early glimpse of what the article was going to be about when the man responsible came across the sight.  It's a very good article that chronicles the process from concept to production of the GTA and the reimergence of the Formula model.  I also played around in Photoshop and changed the color of the car in the article to match mine so I could make a little poster for my car.  This article also helped influence part of my theme when I display my car at car shows.

These are my newest additions to Vader. Original 1988 dealership literature, a brand new Owner's Manual with GM Passenger Car Maintenance Schedule, and a 1:24 scale model (Yes, the model says 1987 but GTAs looked the same from 1987-1990.).

This is the model of a 1987 GTA that is in California right now with a friend who builds models as a hobby. It is going to be built and painted to match mine. It'll make a nice addition to display with my car on the car show circuit. :D (I'll post pictures of the completed model when I get it back.)

This is a picture that I edited in Adobe Photoshop which I will be eventually using as a cover for the binder I'm going to be putting together of Vader's history. I should have the binder ready in time for the 2007 Car Show circuit. :D

AWARDS and HONORS

2006 has been a monumental year for Vader and I. It all started at the Overhills Show that I attended back in September. I attended the same show the previous year, but I didn't have a clue what I was doing, but this year I was well prepared thanks to a friend of mine, Mike.

At the Overhills Show I took home third place in the Domestic Category beating out several cars including a 2005 GTO. I felt pretty darn good about that. My friend Mike took home first place with his 2002 Camaro SS Limited Edition. It was a great day.

Shortly after that, Vader was selected as the Car of the Month for Third Generation USA and also the featured in the GTA Spotlight for the GTA Source Page. It was pretty cool to be bestowed such an honor on two international F-Body sites. The owner of the GTA Source Page sent me a spiffy souvenir comemorating the event...

The cool thing about the hat shown is that it matches my car. On the back of the hat it has "October 2006 GTA Spotlight" embroidered on it. Now I have nice little articles about my car to include with my car show stuff. :D Just something else to look at for the inquisitive on-lookers and judges.

I hope that this streak will continue and that Vader will gain more recognition as the years go by and the car becomes more of a collectors item. :)

Vader was recognized by DropJawMag.com as one of its "SICKRIDEZ" at the Winter Tour Cruise 2007 and again in 2008.

After missing most of the 2007 Car Show season the first show I enter into after getting the car back from Charlotte we were awarded a "Top 30" trophy.

On to Car Show season 2008!

Mark up another award for Vader and I! Recently we attended our second car show of the season. I have missed a couple already that I would have liked to of attended but I was out of the state working. It's kind of difficult to be in two places at the same time. LOL! It was worth the wait though. Everyone that attended the show from my car club got an award which was really cool. I scored the "Best GM - 1987 and Newer" category. It was a first for me to win an award like this. When they got done with the "Top 50" I was a little worried, but it all worked out for the best.

May brought more good news for me and my ride. On F-Body On-line you can find Vader as the May 2008 "F-Body of the Month". You can check out the link to the congrats thread -->here<-- .

The show circuit for 2009!

After missing the rest of the 2008 Car Show season I'm back for 2009 and already I've managed to take a couple more awards.  At the 3d Annual HMC Spring Car/Truck Show I took repeat honors for the best 1987 and newer GM class as I did last year.  The following week I took a Top 50 award at another show supporting a local high school and their marching band.  So far, so good.  Let's hope the luck continues.  In addition to those two awards I've managed to make the Top 25 list for the weekly showoff here on CarDomain.  Hopefully one of these days I'll get that top honor with your help.  :)

This last award is pretty special and by far one of my favorites that I've recieved.  For one, my Dad was present when I won the above award.  That meant a lot to me for my Dad to see me get a trophy regardless of what it was for.  Second, this is the coolest award because it is personalized with a picture of my car.  I've never been to a show before that has done awards like this and it really makes it special.  I'm hoping that more will follow this year as I go to a few more shows.  Right now there are about three or four before this season ends.  Wish us luck.  :)

**UPDATE** 08JUL09:
I was checking my CarDomain page today and found some pretty intersting things.  So interesting that I had to take a screen shot.  :)  I was very excited to find that I have been rated the #1 Trans AM here on CarDomain for Suspension Setup and Restoration and #2 in both those categories for overall vehicle on CarDomain!  The news made me so excited and here are the screen shots.  :)

Thank you to everyone that has voted for my ride!  Also, many thanks go out to the fellas at Zeus Performance in Charlotte.  Without them and the magic they worked on my car it wouldn't be as nice as it is today.  They've taken my vision and brought it to life and there's still more to do.  Don't forget to nominate my ride for the Showoff of the Week contest here on CarDomain as well.  Again, thanks to everyone.  :)

Your calculation about the rarity of your car is pretty cool. Maybe I should do this to. I think the main point is, that you have no T-Top (mine as well). I think the most had it. I like it without T-Tops anyway because the design looks much better. Nothing disturbs the lines. Very nice. I own a 1988 Formula without any electrical stuff and: no T-Top. For that I'm a German I have the export variation. no miles or Fahrenheit you know. I think that makes my Formula even rare. Nice car and 5* for all the work you've done
