1966 Mercury Comet Caliente Convertible. 30k miles. 390 2 barrel. Minor restorations...more to come. Here's what I know....I bought this car from a mechanic a few weeks ago (february 06'). He was selling it for a family member. It was a great deal that I couldnt pass up. As far he knows....they were the second owners. The odometer reads 30k miles....my guess is it's true...but we wont know the truth until we get to the big garage in the sky. The seat upholstery and carpet have been replaced prior to my purchase, as well as the top and the top cover. I havent done a thing with it other than change the oil and drive it. It came with skirts...I just havent put em' on yet. It also has the original hubcaps. Its a dream come true. It's as smooth as you can get. There's a few minor rattles...but nothing of major concern. The rubber trim should probably be replaced around the entire car...but I havent been in a hurry...no major leaks that I know of. Ive considered selling it....but im just not shure...Maybe after I get through the summer with it. I love this car, and my guess would be that it would be tough to find an equal replacement. I dont have a ton of knowledge on Mercs....so any insight would be great. I recently bought and sold a 64' Buick Wildcat....tons of power...great car...until I found major rust on the frame....but It taught me some useful tips. I'd love to find another one of those. Thanks for checking out the page. I'd love to know your thoughts! Thanks!
