The car started life as a 1989 renault 5 monaco with a 1721cc carb fed engine producing 90bhp. My car came with electric windows, remote central locking, power steering, full tan leather interior, 13" alloy wheels and fully colour coded.

I got it, discovered the RTOC (Renault Turbo Owners Club www.rtoc.org)

now I'm an Area rep for the east side of scotland, this is the story so far.

Now after a home conversion the engine bay houses a 1721cc turbocharged engine which originaly was in a 1991 Volvo 480 turbo producing 120bhp standard.

now with a few tweeks to the engine (adustable alloy recirculating dump valve, simplified boost pipework, manual boost controller, cold air induction with piper-x alloy induction filter, exhaust) it SHOULD produce approximatly 145bhp @ 14psi (1 bar) equating to around 165bhp per ton as the car weighs in at around 800kg.

performance wise (stats come from performance tests of identical conversion performed by a felow RTOC member) it will spin its wheels through 1st, 2nd, 3rd (if the roads are anything but dry) 40-70mph and 50-100mph (traction probs mean no 0-60mph times as of yet) and above its faster than civic/integra/accord type r's, most scooby's and evo's. On the standard gearbox it will do 140mph and get there stupidly quick

My car is also far from standard.

lowered 50mm front on apex -50mm springs and ph2 GT Turbo avo top adjustable shocks,

lowered 50mm rear with modified peugeot 205gti 18 point adjustable dampers and the torsion bars reset to match the -50mm drop at the front,

smoothed out and meshed ph2 GT Turbo rear bumper,

opened up GTX/Monaco front bumper which has been modified to fit the volvo 480's intercooler.

the interior has been stripped of the standard seats (which were cream/tan full leather) and replaced with reclinable bucket seats from a Suzuki Swift GTi on custom made subframes.

Standard seatbelts have been replaced with FIA approved 5 point harnesses with rotary camlock buckles, 3" double adjustable shoulder straps with pull downs, 3" double adjustable waist straps with pull downs and 2" single adjustable crutch/anti sub strap.

standard steering wheel has been replaced with a Simoni Poly X2 d shaped racing wheel (black with blue thumb inserts), a momo horn button and black surround ring, all monted on a custom boss made from a momo boss with the base from the standard renault boss grafted to the base.

Custom straight through exhaust, 2.25", no center boxes or baffles, exiting in a stainless steel 3.5" slash cut jap style can.

Before coming off the road the car was running on 13"OZ 6 spokes, now it is going back on the road it will be using 15" wheels with 195/45/15 tyres (still not chosen what wheels yet)

Twin fuel pump with swirl pot set-up is being installed where rear seats used to be, 1st pump is just a lift pump to supply the swirl pot and the 2nd is a bosch high pressure fuel injection pump to supply the fuel rail.

many more mods to come, but at the moment I'm just concentrating on getting it back on the road after the conversion. into the last 3 weeks. have tweeked the outside styling but going to try to keep it looking as understated as possible.

STREET SLEEPERS...........KEEPIN IT REAL!!!!!

THIS IT WHAT I WANT IT TO LOOK LIKE IN THE END. :)
