Finally after waiting 30 years I got my dream car! In order to keep up w/today's cars I installed a 514ci crate motor from Ford racing in place of the original 351. It runs on pump gas and even has a warranty, gotta luv that! I have the most fun when challenged on the fwy at about 80mph. It gets to 130 or so faster than anything I've encountered so far! You can definately hear it coming:) it's alot of fun!
If you're gonna buy a Pantera watch out who ya buy it from! My first Pantera, purchased from self-described "experts in the marque" turned out to be an unrestorable rustbucket! Fortunately the "techs" were up that year and I was able to locate and purchase a completely rust free body from a guy in New Joisey. I had it shipped out to Calif and thus began the construction of my "drivable" Pantera!
It took 3-1/2 years to complete which was about 2-1/2 years longer than I had anticipated, so while it was exciting to watch the car come together the frustration level was often high!
I figured since I didn't plan on doing this again I might as well build the car right the first time. So all the good stuff has gone into it; complete aluminum suspension with Alden coil over shocks; 4 row Fluidyne aluminum radiator, s.s. cooling tubes, 6 piston nascar brakes from Wilwood on drilled and slotted rotors; all metal bodywork including flares;
Anyway I am very happy with the results! The car gets lots of smiles and comments wherever we go & we've met alot of nice people in the process!
The car looks black most of the time but it's really House of Colors Candy Black Cherry. When you get the light right it looks pretty cool!
