Dynomax Superturbo Exhaust Review

This catback exhaust I had hoped would put my in the low 16s. I was sadly mistaken. First, I'll begin with the hell that was the install.

The install itself took about 4 hours. This is mostly attributed to the fact that the new flange in the kit did not have pre-welded bolts, or any bolts for that matter, requiring me to make two runs to Lowes for bolts that would fit. After this fiasco, it appears that the system does not fit 100% as well as the stock system did, and makes an annoying clanging sound as the bracket bangs against the frame. All of this could be fixed with some TLC, but it appears now that it won't even be worth it.

I finally got the chance to see what this sucker did to my quarter mile times. I geared up to go, put the pedal to the metal, and all I got was a loud drone and a significant loss of umph at the low RPMs. The engine seemed to pick up in the upper RPMs near the shift point, but this slight power increase was short-lived.

These are my new numbers with the Dynomax catback "Superturbo" Exhaust:

18.10 sec @ 75.3 MPH
18.00 sec @ 75.3 MPH

I couldn't bear to run it anymore, I was far too upset. These average together to be 18.05 seconds, a similar time to the 4-banger Jetta that a friend and I just tested.

On average, I lost 1.54 seconds on my quarter mile. This is absolutely the worst product I have ever owned. The fact that it is marketed as a performance upgrade disgusts me. Dynomax should be ashamed for offering such a low quality product under the false basis of "performance". I will soon be reverting back to stock, and next time I will be very careful to pick a good muffler, and not some second-rate piece of crap that the Dynomax is.

Honestly, I expected crap like this from the ebay cold air intake, but from an actual manufacturer? The losses I sustained through this "performance" upgrade, with the claims made by the company, border on the level of criminal.

The worst item I've ever purchased, don't make the same mistake I did...
