Ebay Cold Air Intake Review
I bought one of those cheap cold air intakes on ebay... Let me just start off by saying you get what you pay for...
Pros:
Engine sounded more aggressive, like a V-8.
Cons:
"Cold air" intake sucked in more hot air than the stock intake did, even though it flowed better than stock. This flow difference was not enough to make up for it, however. The engine just did not like the hot air.
My stock numbers:
17.94 sec @ 75.6 MPH
17.58 sec @ 77.4 MPH
17.70 sec @ 76.9 MPH
17.43 sec @ 79.6 MPH
17.54 sec @ 78.6 MPH
avg: 17.64 +-0.19 sec
Numbers with Ebay Cold Air Intake:
17.77 sec @ 77.5 MPH
18.02 sec @ 76.0 MPH
17.99 sec @ 76.2 MPH
18.09 sec @ 76.8 MPH
17.90 sec @ 77.8 MPH
avg: 17.95 +-0.12 sec
This intake was purchased from the ebay seller ssintakezone. These numbers basically prove that if a kit is not purchased (such as the K&N FIPK Kit or AEM Brute Force), or some kind of heat shield is not fabricated, the engine will actually prefer the stock "true" cold air intake system...
