OIL COOLER INSTALLATION:

1_vicious_gsx's 1999 Mitsubishi EclipseI mounted the Setrab fan-pack oil cooler on my passenger side of the car using -8 stainless braided lines. The driver's side would be closer to the oil filter housing, but the a/c dryer, ABS pump and charcoal canister are mounted there. I thought about relocating the charcoal cannister, but the a/c dryer and ABS pump would have still been in the way.

1_vicious_gsx's 1999 Mitsubishi EclipseI used some flat bar stock I had laying around to fabricate the 3 mounting brackets I wanted to mount and support the oil cooler. I just cut and bent them into the correct shapes and angles to make them do what I needed, then painted them with engine paint.

1_vicious_gsx's 1999 Mitsubishi EclipseThe cooler actually fits between the 2 intercooler pipes very well. The 2 upper braces are bolted to the car using pre-existing bolt holes in the chassis. No drilling on the body was required. The lower brace is strapped to the lower intercooler pipe using 2 hose clamps. The upper braces hold the weight of the cooler, the lower brace just keeps it from moving back and forth. I have padding between the brace and pipe.

1_vicious_gsx's 1999 Mitsubishi EclipseThis pic shows how nicely the unit fit in the bumper and wheel/splash shield area. The lower brace is strapped right next to the lower intercooler pipe brace which is very rigid. The cooler mounts don't allow any movement in any direction. Very stable.

1_vicious_gsx's 1999 Mitsubishi EclipseIt lines up with the vents in the wheel splash shield so the air goes right out behind the cooler.

AS A NOTE:
Be sure to have oil flow into the bottom fitting and out of the top fitting. You don't want an air pocket to impeed flow and efficiency. I installed a Moroso 160 deg thermostat switch (part #63760) on a T-fitting at the line coming out of the cooler to control the fan. The 1g oil filter housing has a thermostat valve to control flow to the cooler. If the oil coming out of the cooler exceeds 160 deg F, the fan will turn on.
