Don't forget to rate my car or leave a message in my Guestbook, so I can check out your ride

Thanks for taking a look at my car. I bought my LC GTR Torana in this great condition, but it was made into an XU1 clone. I've started to take it back to original on the outside and the inside, taken off the XU1 decals and replaced then with the GTR stripes and soon the GTR badges. My plan is to have it looking as original as possible outside and in, but have a bit more power than when it left the factory. Here are a few photos I took before I started changing things.

I'd been looking for an original XU1, but soon realised the budget wouldn't stretch that far. I decided to go for an original GTR instead. After two years I found this one on the internet in a car yard, someone had traded it in on a HSV. I bought the car sight unseen ( except photo's ) from Melbourne and I couldn't be happier with it.

These two pictures directly above were taken when I first got the car home after getting it off the truck.

It's been running a strong 186 with a 350 Holley ( above photo ) and an Aussie 4 speed up until now, but it now has a worked triple SU carbie fed Blue 202 ( painted red ) and a Supra 5 speed put in. It's at the mechanics as I write this, so it won't be too long before I get it back with the new set up in it. I decided not to go back to the original engine and gear box set up, as I don't think a 161 and an Opel 4 speed will quite cut it. I've just been to see the mechanic and took a couple of photos. I will be picking it up next week once everything is finished. Here are a few shots of the new motor with the triple SU carbies. I can't wait to pick it and go for my first drive.

The interior has been completely retrimmed to original specs and is in immaculate condition, I just have to put the GTR badges on the door trims and find an original steering wheel.

Here it is with the GTR stripes at Hidden Valley when the V8's came to town. I'm still trying to get hold of the six GTR badges that I need to finish it off. This was the display by the Classic Holden Car Club of The Northern Territory, which is in the issue ( #3 ) of Just Holdens.

The next two shots are from the track day that four Darwin car clubs had together. There's nothing like taking your car onto a race track and seeing what it can do. I had a great time racing the other toranas including the red XU-1 in the other photos. I was beaten on the day, but hope to do better after the motor and gear box up-grade.

The last few shots are from Powercruise 9 up here in Darwin. It was the first time that the event has come here, but hopefully not the last.
