Some words about Wilma

She's nothing special to look at, really. I bought her from a used car dealer pretty cheap. A Title search showed that she'd been tossed from home to home, repo'd, auctioned, then sold again.

Then I acquired her. We had nearly 4 weeks together, then she was stolen from in front of my apartment. A month later, my search turning up nothing, the police finding nothing, I conceeded defeat and began the total loss process with my insurance company. I held off on their offer until I did some research to verify the amounts.

A couple of days later, the phone rang. I let it go into the answering machine -- but it was the police saying they found her! I picked up the phone, inquiring immediately of her state...of course I feared the worst given so much time had elapsed. The officer indicated little damage had been done!

Unconvinced, I raced to the towyard to be with her in her final days. But she suprised me with her cheerful face, and indeed, her damage was minimal. She had to stay overnight at the towyard, but I knew I wanted her home. The insurance company must have been impressed with her will to live and our love for each other, and reunited us promptly, and generously helping with her recovery.

She's back home now. She's been checked out, and has a clean bill of health. Her steering column has been rebuilt, and a protective collar snugly fitted.

She's just a basic Trans Sport, nothing really to look at. But she's just turned 145,000 miles, and even with her past of being tossed from home to home, she cheerfully starts with one touch of the ignition, and gently conveys me anywhere I want to go. Still vigorous and responsive, a touch of her accelerator shows she sprints with the joy of a young maiden, her strong transmission shifting with integrity and no hesitation. Even after all this time, 20 mpg on regular unleaded shows her appetite still delicate.

She has a strong heart and soul, demonstrating integrity, strength, and a dignified beauty and attractiveness that comes from being a survivor as well as a will and zest for life.

Here's her picture shortly after she came back home.
