Yes, it is unnatractive. I don't care.
1977 Ford F-150 Ranger XLT. 460 4V, a C-6 transmission, and a 9" rear end (2.75 open). The engine was stuck solid when I bought it, so it has been replaced with one from a 1976 Lincoln Mark IV. It has the wrong pan, but I can still change the oil so I don't care.
It'll burn the tires pretty good, and I needed a winter vehicle. Unfortunately it's two wheel drive.
I am thinking I may paint it this coming spring, but we'll see if that works out. I would be going forest green where the sea foam is, and redoing the creamy white. I am also thinking some aluminium rims.
UPDATE JUNE 12th 2006: Well, I got the rims and tires, but the paint is looking like it is not going to happen. I have been looking around for a mid nineties F-250 or F-350 with a 460 for the right price. I'll get up pictures of the new rims and tires soon. I think the rims are American Racing Outlaws.
Update - The pickup got new (used, new to it) exhaust, which fell off about a week later. That's quality work, I tell ya!
Update November Eleventh 2006: Okay, I know I have not put up pictures of the rims and tires yet, but I will. I also changed the hood to a straighter white one.
Also, I have now put a grill in the truck of my own design, made from some rather nicely galvanized hydraulic lines.
Jared cutting said lines.
The lines cut to various lengths as these were the posts that brought it out from the front to be approximately level with the grill shell.
A picture of yours truly sporting the left over bits of bent hydraulic line and a nice head wound sustained at my job. Falling pallets hurt.
Then Jared began welding the bits in, as I have yet to learn how to weld.
I know this sounds like a terrible ugly grill, but actually it seems to be just fine. Well, at least better than no grill.
The pieces need to be straightened out a little, and cut a bit, but for now I have put it in the truck at a minimum.
UPDATE February ELEVENTH, 2007: Nevermind, the truck has been junked. I hit a telephone pole on the first of the year with it.
First I tried fixing it, just to get by for a while.
That was good enough I did not get pulled over, but that was about it. The accident also caused the door to catch on the fender and both got bent, so the door no longer shut right.
Add to that the fact that for no apparent reason the door handle ripped off. Seriously, it had nothing to do with anything, just happened.
So I bought a Chevrolet to replace it. I am ashamed.
Anyway, the truck was junked out for one that a friend of mine owns and I kept the drivetrain for another vehicle.
Thanks for looking - R.I.P. Le Greene Monstre
UPDATE 10-10-2009 - I actually miss this truck. Lord, help me!
