The day after I purchased her... Most current picture...
Bought my 2002 WRX around Thanksgiving of 2005, and sold my 1997 Eclipse shortly after. When I bought it the old owner had installed a stereo system, rims, intake, & exhaust.
The purpose behind my modifying follows 2 things... First it allows me/you/anyone to custom tailor a vehicle to suit their tastes. You make a car exactly what you want to drive (and I'm not talking about frog floor mats, or tinkerbell keychains that walmart sells). You want more thump you add stereo, you want to go fast you add performance parts. In any case it's making the car what YOU want and not what anyone else tells you is "teh coolz stuff".
Second, and closely related to the first, it makes your car into something you want to DRIVE!... yes I said it... Drive. If your car requires a flatbed when its it working condition I think you're stupid. Don't take it personal but cars were built to be driven. If you just trailor it to shows you paid all that money for an expensive statue.
With that rant out of the way I'll outline my project as best I can and try to include pics showing what I changed. Later on I'll even get around to adding a precise Mod List but for now you have to deal with the CarDomain sidebar of parts.
First thing I did was rip out the old owners sound system. I did it because i didn't want the 15" sub he had and I also wanted to clean up the install (amp to the trunk and not under my seat, etc.) In doing so I found a mess of wiring and one power wire with just a couple mm of insulation left! Good thing I did this first before I lit the entire car on fire.
l added my Alpine head unit (CDA-9811), a full layer of dynamat in the trunk, a single JL W6V2 in a custom built box and a JBL 180.2 amp to power it. MB Quart PSD interior speakers and all JL wiring.
The rims I kept for now. I'll change them later. The tires still have plenty of tread. With the addition of some Tein springs it gives it the look I want without sacrificing handling and comfort.
Finally completed the de-badge I promised myself I'd do. Took the WRX logo off the lower left trunk.
Finally got some new rims! the pictures didn't come out great but you get the idea... The new tires aren't as responsive as the old ones but the ride noise is quieter and more comfortable.
