This was a launch on a 200shot of spray at Mason Dixon Raceway in Hagerstown, Md.
Feel free to check out my other rides in my garage.
This 70 Lemans was mine for over 13 years and was raced up and down the East Coast. I made trips to Englishtown NJ, Maple Grove Pa, Atco NJ, Mason Dixon (Hagerstown, Md), MIR (Budds Creek, Md), Capitol Raceway in Crofton Md, and others.
It has a Pontiac 455 +.030 with a Turbo 400 trans and a 12 Bolt 4.11 spool rear. The car weighed 3310 with me in it (depending on fuel level). The motor was pretty mild by todays standards. It had 670 heads, Warrior intake w/ 850 Holley, Comp solid roller cam (.651/.651 274/284 @ .050 on a 106 lobe sep), Ross pistons, Brooks aluminum rods, Canton pan, and other stuff. The converter is a 10" Continental.
The best motor pass was 10.69 @ 127 w/1.48 60ft and the best spray pass was 10.03 @ 136 on a 200 shot. The engine was built to be a motor only combination but I decided to run spray anyway. I tried a 300HP shot at Maple Grove and tripped the 60ft beam with the rear tires and then it snapped the input shaft of the trans when I went into second. It would have been a GREAT pass! Oh well!
This car will hook on ice! It has been known to make an occasional trip on the street and will still carry the wheels on a 9" slick on the street. When it is at the track, it has 10.5" slicks just to fill the wheelwells better.
Leaving hard at Maple Grove, Pa.
This pic was taken at Capitol Rcaeway in Crofton, Md. The sparks were due to my starter. The bendix wouldn't return all the way every time and it would occasionally let the gear hit the flywheel. The photographer just happened to get lucky and catch it on film.
