2.0L Ecotec Supercharged STAGE 2 Kit By GM PERFORMANCE Division

On this page I will
- give a list of what parts are in the kit.
- give GM Performance expectations that one can have with the kits and what results that people are actually finding from dynos with stage 2 from stock.
- the Value of this performance in comparison to other sports cars.
- experience when installing the kit, challenges, list of tools you will need and supplies.

This wont be your traditional "How to DO" page as the steps are very well laid out by GM PERFORMANCE with Pictures. I will try to fill any gaps with real life experience and you may then decide whether you should attempt the install or not.

Kit includes a bolt on 3.08" pulley, Special bolts with two specialty bits, a hub that is to be pressed on to replace stock 3.4" one piece pulley hub assembley, and shorter belt. For fuel 42LBS/hr injectors are used to relace the 35LBS/hr, and a PCM reflash that is done at no charge at the dealer. If they want to charge you then find another dealer. Cant find one then phone GM to fill them in as you should not pay.
What is really nice is the step by step instructions for this kit. I dont need to do a real how to do as it is so good with what comes in the kit.
What can you expect from this kit. GM claims it brings the car from 205HP to 245HP. Others have found gains to be accurate (40HP) but they find that the car dynos at 212WHP and with the kit they have achived 242WHP. A spectacular amount. With 15% drivetrain loss that means the engine is putting out 37 more HP for a total close to 280HP. These #'s are spectacular from a 2.0L that costs $21000 with STAGE 2 installed. It will beat and compete with much higher priced performance cars. You can argue that the other performance cars are superior and I think they should be for more than 1.5 to 2 times the cost.

1. should I do this install myself? Well the hardest part is to get the stock pulley off and the new hub on. If you have not worked with pullers before or press-on tools then you need someone who is experienced or just leave it up to your dealer.

2. what tools to I need? nothing really special needed other than the puller/press tool specificly for the Eaton M62. Search forums for used pullers or ebay for a used one as that is what I did. New ones sell for $130. I still have mine and it is not for sale, it can be rented if your in the province of Manitoba.

Another tool that is very useful and is not specified is a strap wrench. It is a metal handle with a rubber strap that can be used to grip the hub while it is being pressed on. This made it much easier we found.

Make sure you have the proper alan key socket for the blower bolts.

Vasoline and Q-tips.

Also get a qualtity 15mm wrench for the belt tensioner. a low budget wrench will eventually slip off and cause the tensioner to have rounded corners making it hard to back off the tensioner.

3. Get a second person to help you.

4. Q-tips and vasoline is for the new injectors and to clean the ports out of any dirt. I recommend getting compressed air to blow out the ports before removing the fuel rail as well. I didnt and got away without but it would be alot safer and easier if you could blow it out first.

5. after you put on the parts visit your dealer. I drove 30 miles with out the reflash. you just dont get on the gas that is all and everything is safe.

good luck.
