I have experimented with Traction Aids for this car and talked to many people. here is a summary.

the real cause of the wheel hop is control arm deflection. I learned this from a company BWoody Inc. who makes traction bars for the cobalt. I bought the traction bars and installed these but I found that I did not like these bars to be on all the time. I wanted a different way to make the mounting of the control arms more rigid.

you have to preload the BWoody traction bars pulling the arms forward. In My Opinion this is not the best idea as this will cause the alignment of car to altered and I found the front supspension was not as free of movement as the bars seem to make the suspension operate with sticktion (not moving freely). the steering also felt tighter. I experienced the bars moving as well and mounting bolts would move making the sound. did not go away after tightening the mounting bolts again. Did BWoody's bars work? OH YEAH. no hop at all. but due to the above thoughts I sold them. for track use only they are great.

I see many people selling engine dampener devices that they used on there car. I do not have any idea why though? one can only assume what I determined. see below for more info on wheel hop.

Poly control arm bushings are to help quite a bit. that is what I plan on doing next.

now to comment on wheel hop "friend or foe".... to be continued.
