Shift light mode and "how to"
This "How To" covers mounting the unit, and wiring.
The IDEA: The info you are seeing here is not my idea. But I liked it so much that I did the same. For those who have contributed their ideas through CobaltSS.net and .com I would like to thank you.
The Company: I have to say they are super communicators. When I bought the product I didn't see it shipped. I emailed them and they responded that same day. Now this is a popular item. What is nice is you can choose your color of LED's and color of the body. This impacts availability to as they may have your choice on the shelf. A representative told me it is unusual they dont have supplies in so it can be made or just shipped right away. They explained the situation and pointed out on the website it did mention current supply wait was about a week for some choices before I purchased. They were upfront to the point and polite! I would expect my wait is unsual and you they could ship yours right away. this was just my situation. 1 week for supplies, 3 days to make mine (God only knows how many they have to make to keep up with demand), and one week to ship because I requested snail mail to reduce shipping expenses (this was to CANADA customs as well).
IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT ! - this is an really nice looking item, easy to install, easy to adjust, and most off all works really well!

Red LED's and annodized red body of the shift light was chosen to match the interior red accents and the car is red.
If you have installed a car radio before than you should find this easy. Read through the information I am providing through once to get a feel of what is going on and how tools and supplies will be used. It took me 1.5 hrs to do this install from start to finish which included getting and putting away tools and refencing to the WEB for wiring.
What do you get?
- The shift light with more than enough wire to make the conections.
- two mounting bases - one is smaller than the other.
- two covers for the LED - Red and Black. Red is useful for night driving.
- Instructions on how to adjust the shift light for #cylinders and rpm. also how the unit confirms the settings and self test. See the instructions when you get the product. It is super easy.

Ok tools you will need.
- 11/32 drill bit and drill.
- T15 screw driver.
- Small flat screw driver.
- Large and long flat screw driver.
- wire side cutters
- wire strippers
- razor blade knife
- circuit tester
Supplies you will need -
- Self tapping sheet metal screw
- three wire taps
- three spade connectors
- electrical tape
- three zip ties
#1 - First thing you should do is set up the dip switch's for 1 cylinder. Why? The pick up wire goes to one coil.

#2 - choosing your mounting location - The location of the install chosen for this install was on the pillar pod next to the boost gage and the install will focus on this location. This was chosen for its good visibilty of the light, puts light closer to eye level, because there is holes being made in the trim peice it can be easily replaced, and there is a ground and power supply at the gage.

You can put it in other locations like on the dash, on steering column, or for stealth you can hide it in the center dash air vents.
#3 - remove the trim peice. Pics are self explanitory for the most part. there is one torx head screw hold the pod on at the top and two clips that hold it to the body.

#4 - (**see step 6 note before doing step 4) Once the screw is removed pull the pod away form the body starting at the top. work it slowly and try to pull at the clip postions.

#5 - Disconnect the wiring block from the guage.

#6 - (**Note - If I were to do this install again, I would do this step before removing the pod from the body to get a better alignment of holes.) Mark where you would like to the shift light to be on the pod, the mountin base and a hole in the

#7 - drilling hole for the wiring is pretty simple. for a cleaner look stat the hole and then put drill on an angle to allow wiring to go into the pod on a 45 to 35 degree angle instead of a 90 degree angle.

#8 - this is the self taping sheet metal screw I used to attach the large plastic bracket for the shift lite.

double check the placement of your shift lite mounting and then attatch the bracket to the guage pod.

# 9 - put wiring through the wire hole in pod and thread it all the way through and put the shift light on the mounting bracket.

#10 on the inside of the pod we are ready to attach wiring. first allow a loop of wire. This allows movement of the shift light wiring in and out of the pod. When you want to make adjustments to the light (RPM activation) you can do so with some freedom and without pulling on the light wiring.

We want to remove 2" of the casing to be able to splice the RED and BLACK wires from the Shift light into the guage pod wiring for or power and ground. If you don't like this idea you can use the fuse box and make a ground somewhere on the body. I like this idea as it is easy, clean, and saves alot of time. Start stripping the casing in area of the end off your loop. then make another seperation of the casing two inches down.

Cut the black and Red wire distal to the guage. strip an 1/2" of wire as it is pretty thin. Twist and fold to triple up the thickiness of the wire. Then put on the spade terminal.

Put on the line taps on to the pink and black wiire of the boost guage. then push on the spade terminals to each tap.
Red to Pink
Black to Black.

#11 - Feed green wire (note - keep it in the black casing with the rest of the blacka and red wire. makes it easier to feed through dash and fire wall and provides protection as well) behind dash so it is ready to be put through the fire wall. Put guage pod back in place just the reverse way that you removed it and secure it with the torx screw.

GREEN to BROWN with a WHITE stripe at the #1 coil harness.
#12 - Put GREEN wire through the fire wall. I found a wiring harness going through the fire wall neer the brake to be very easy to access to get the job done. A zip tie was found to be needed here to keep wire from rubbing anything. Once you push the wire though find it on the otherside with hood open and using a straightened wire coat hanger, with a hook on one end, fish the wire up the fire wall, around fuse box, and through to the coils. Using the slice and spade terminal attach it to the BROWN/White coil wire. To do this the coil does not have to be removed. The coil wire harness can be easily removed with out much force. Lift the top locking leaver while gently pulling back on the harness and it comes off. Then attach the green wire and put harness back on. insure wire tap is pointing to the inside of the engine so there is no interference with valve cover or coil cover. Then your done.
