SSnipes's 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

Well the Cobalt came to me without any real plans to buy it. I used to flip cars. I bought a truck and being it was a V10 RAM 2500 4X4 it was hard to get rid of at the time as Gas was starting to rise out of control and the farmers across the Canadian prairies were not doing much for equipment purchases as the crops had be not very good for 2 years in a row.

I then traded the Truck in and sold my daily driver which was a '87 Jeep Cherokee.

2005 COBALT SS Supercharged
So why did I buy a new car? Well I needed gas mileage.

SO how did I wind up with this car?...LOL I looked at the SMARTCAR FORTWO, an Toyota Echo, and VW Golf TDI.

After calculating costs and practical use of each vehicle I thought there has to be a better way. I looked at the cobalt line. After seeing this was more what I need I asked the Sales person How much for all the "Bells and Whistles" referring to the SuperCharged Cobalt. It was not much more and then I saw the gas economey difference was only 2MPG in the city different and 38 on the highway (we use IMPERIAL Gallon in Canada for Gallons I think, which are slightly bigger, therefore, more miles per gallon). SO I bought it.

I ASK YOU - HOW MANY CARS CAN YOU BUY, PUT A $900 INTO IT(GM STAGE 2 KIT), AND GET 38MPG ON THE HIGHWAY (AT 55MPH OR 90KMH) AND GO 13.9 IN A 1/4? NOT MANY LOL.

MPG going to the track - 39.4 at 55mph (go faster say 70mph and MPG drops to 28 to 30)

MPG after doing 13 runs at the track - 8.7

When I looked at the car for the first time it was the interior that helped me to decide on this car over other manufacturers

I liked the wing at first and then grew to hate it. For me I could not see out the rear view mirror as the wing covered the horizon. It was hard to tell if someone was behind me. So I used my side mirrors to look straight back. My preference is to use my side mirrors for blind spots by having these to enable me to see more to the side.

My official first mod was to take the wing off. I thought I would get an RK Sport spoiler but I like it wingless.

I sold the wing on EBAY! At first I thought I would regret it. now I love it. I get more postive comments on the car than negative with out the wing. See Page 9 for more info.
