I purchased this car in 2006 and have recently finished its full restoration. The car was purchased after the death of its 95 year old, original owner. The Engine on this cadillac is the original V864 which has 79,013 miles on it, this calculates to 3,000 miles a year. The V864 is the only engine Cadillac made with the ability to switch between a V8, V6, or V4. The way this works is, at start the engine is in V8 mode, as it picks up speed and needs less power to maintain momentum it switches to V6 mode, And at Highway speed, roughly 70-85 mph it switches to V4 mode. This Selectable-Cylinder-System helps to not only save gas but to relieve unwanted stress on the engine.
