With the engine now blown I backed her up in my garage and started my search for an engine out of a 89 or 90 Turbo Grand Prix built by mclaren engines. Heres the picture of the upper intake and front rocker cover from my tgp engine.

As luck had its way I finally came across one at a local junkyard. When I got there The engine was sitting on the ground still in the car, someone had taken the subframe from the car so the engine sat on the cold earth. I told them the engine was most likely junk and that there was a hole in the oil pan. They wanted 500 for it. I said no. checked back a week later and they said $375 complete with turbo setup and intercooler! I hit up my brother, he brought the truck and we loaded up the engine and took it to my shop where I put it on an engine stand to start disassembly and rebuild this beast. My buddy at work is porting the heads.
I feared the engine was going to be blown due to that fact that the grandprix it was taken from was in great condition. When I got it apart the engine was beautiful and the previous owner had taken good care of it. the turbo was also in good condition!
The engine is now rebuilt with a gm performance parts cam, mellings high volume oil pump and ported heads sitting on the stand at work!
The 3.1 liter engine with T-25 turbo setup from a 1990 grand prix TGP, will be in my GTZ soon. I will not blow this engine....at least I think.
