My Car Completely Stock Except For Stereo, Alarm, and Single Pin StripingBrief History: The Elantra was the third car introduced by Hyundai. It was first sold in 1991 as a 1992 model, and quickly became one of Hyundai's best selling models. In 1997, the Elantra was completly redesigned from is earlier models and also a version of the Elantra that was a station wagon model was introduced. The Elantra captured the Hyundai sales record in 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000. Hyundai also introduced the all-new third-generation Elantra with a longer wheelbase, a roomier cabin, side air bags, and man more refinements as well. The 2000 Elantra this sub compact sedan came stock with 140hp and was naturally aspirated. Elantra models 98-2000 carry the same engine as Hyundai's rally car, the Hyundai Accent. The engine is a DOHC 2.0L Beta motor based off of most luxury car's engines and carries features such as eight counterweights on the crankshaft to eliminate any potential vibration problems. Third-generation hydraulic engine mounts also ensure smooth and quiet performance. This engine was also actually created to handle a turbo with no problem. Hyundai was also the first company ever to come out with the ten year or ten-thousand mile warranty package.
