Dude! Pepes getting a Mac!
Some pictures of the dash taken apart. There is tons of room in this dashboard to run wires and hide various electronic items. My XM and iPod adapter are hidden in here.

Looking up how to set up my Carnetix DC to DC power supply. Both the Mac and VGA screen will run off of it. It provides clean regulated voltage that will even survive engine cranking so the computer doesnt crash. It also automatically puts the Mac to sleep when the key is turned off and starts it up with the key on.

My power distrubution block. The white is constant power disconnected for now to keep things from getting exciting while running the wire through the dash. All my accesories and gauges will run off this block with the exception of the radio. Having this makes it easier to upgrade and takes things apart for maintainance.

Here are the power connections. VW provided me with a convinient place to connect.

The ground connection

This is the connector for the harness I made for power supply input.

This is the other half of the connector that goes to the power supply. I wanted to make the screen and power supply removable for security reasons.

Here is where the harness comes down from the top of the dash down to cupholder area where the screen and power supply will be.

Here is the harness on top of the dash.

Here is the screen in a box I made for it and the power supply. The power suppy will be attached under the top of the box. Once everything is working right I will work on the cosmetics of the box. I think Im going to go with a flat black that matches the car and i have to figure out a way to put some trim around the screen in the front.

This is the power for the Mac. I havent put the connector on here yet. I wasnt sure it was going to fit in the glove box so I left some length in case I had to put it under the seat. After some looking it definatly wont fit under the seat and I did get it to fit in the glove box with the help of Mr Dremel.

All I had to do was cut out a little bit of the top of the glove box to get the door to close with the Mac in there. The only thing that didnt work out awesome was that I have to face the cd drive towards the passenger side of the car when the door is closed because the DVI to VGA connector sticks out too far in the back. No biggie but I have to move the computer everytime I want to change out a disk.

My bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

Almost done. I got it in and working. I need to finish up some details like making the box look good and getting the sleep/startup function working but heres how it looks so far.

This is where I put the power supply.

More pics to come when I get some ambition to make it look pretty.
