10. Now the fun begins. Tim & Jim put the first coat of base/clear on the ole girl on March 1st and 2nd.

11. The guys shot the final 3 coats of clear on the car on March 15th. I took these pictures on March 19th. The camera's eye doesn't do the car any justice. Please not the shot of the roof and how clear the reflections are. That paint is awesome. The frame was re-shot on Saturday and they began the re-assembly.

12. We put the body on the frame on March 30th and on April 1st we started assembling the suspension. The rear end was delayed because the station wagon springs I bought to carry the continental kit were just too stiff. I went back to the stock springs on April 3rd. We installed the front control arms and springs on Saturday too. We ran into an issue with the Direct Fit Brake kit. The spindle was a little short. Guidance from Direct Fit is to drill holes through the shaft at the end to put the cotter key in. I'm still thinking about this.

13. We have had a short intermission while the shop found a new building and got it setup. The current projection is that they'll be back up and running by June 12th. In the mean time, we got the engine today from Apple Performance in York, PA. They were much cheaper than Sallee and Pace. Can't wait to get this thing under my right foot.

14. These pictures are duplicated from another post. However, they show the latest progress on our car.

15. These shots were taken after she was safely back in my garage on December 9, 2006. Only the doors and a few small parts remain to be finished by Paradise Road. Now the assembly begins.

16. The following shot was taken on January 21, 2007. The quarter trim and drip rail trim has been installed on both sides. I've also assembled the tail lights and installed.

17. It's February 11, 2007 and I've been working on mocking up the rear bumper, continental kit and fuel tank. I've also been working on getting engine brackets and pulleys. Now that it's all been sorted out, I'll take it all apart and have the brackets and pulleys powdercoated.

18. It's now May 18, 2007 and I've made a little more progress on the car. I've been mocking up brackets and pulleys on the engine. See the progress below.

19. It's Veterans Day (November 11, 2007) and I thought I'd give you an update. I've had some significant distractions lately. I sold the Buick in August and that took some time. It went to Sweden. The engine blew in my 57 pickup in late August and I was distracted to pull that and have it rebuilt. I now have it back in but have some tweaking to do to get it right. My biggest distraction is my wife's cancer. We have been fighting that since June. We hope to be finished with that by February. My new goal is to have the car finished for next August.
I have made some progress though. I installed the new custom fuel tank that has return lines and internal fuel pump for the injected motor and I've got the trunk side of the continental kit latch installed.

20. It's February 8th and I thought I'd post a couple of current pictures. The first is the engine as upgraded. It now sports a set of Chevy orange finned valve covers and 2 1/2" ramshorns. I just ordered a 2 1/2" dual exhaust system from Impala Bob's. I'll have to modify the tail pipes but the front sections will fit.
I've also included a picture of my new tail lights which are Dakota Digital LED kits. (I want to be sure nobody runs into my continental kit.)

These shots were taken on February 28th 2009. The engine (350 RamJet) and 700R4 are in the car and ready for assembly.

More later.
