2000 Neon TV Show Car- SEMA-World of Wheels-more!
This is a car built for the 2004 SEMA trade show in Las Vegas, NV. The car is fully customized and has appeared on Tricked Out TV on DIY Network, has been at World of Wheels, several displays for B.F. Goodrich including NOPI races. Car has been on display and won awards at Carlisle as well as the Fire and Ice Car Show, and the Mopar Nationals. This was a show car that was finished in October of 2004. At that time installed was new, and the car has been driven less than 500 miles since then. The car has been a trailer queen.
Body & Paint
Car has custom paint by Mitch's Collision Center in Keyser, WV which has done several SEMA cars and TV cars. The paint is a custom green. In anything but direct sun light the car looks black. In direct sun light you can see green pearl in the paint. The strip is done in Lime Green to accent the interior, and resembles a chalk mark.
The front facisa is a custom piece designed to hold a 2004 Chrysler Sebring Grille. The headlights have been changed to 2003 Neon headlights. The driving lights are Krystle Klear 95-99 Neon lights. The hood is a custom hood with a "power bulge". Car has custom side skirts and rear facisa. The rear wing is from a 1995 Chevy Cavalier, and the factory Neon 3rd brake light has been filled, and the brake light in the spoiler is active. The car has custom painted rear taillights.
Interior
The complete interior in the car has been redone. The seats have been reupholstered in charcoal with green lime green inserts. The console and dash surround have been done in a matching paint. Head liner and door panels have also been redone. Faze gauges have been used for oil pressure and temperature, as well as water temperature. The Faze tachometer has been mounted but never wired in. Car has Mexican Domestic Market Steering wheel and airbag delete tray on passenger side. This car has no airbags
Engine
The engine is a Howell Automotive crate motor, and the car has a DOHC swap. A DOHC engine was not available in the 2000+ Neon
The engine features 10.5 to 1 JE forged pistons on Eagle H-beam rods with Total Seal rings. The bottom end is balanced and blue printed. The cylinder head is fully ported with with oversize stainless steel valves. It uses Crane 180-0016 cams.
The intake manifold is an Indy Cylinder Head manifold, and has a four nozzle direct port tunable nitrous system. Throttle body is a 60mm after market unit, with AEM cold air. The exhaust is an AFX long tube header, with Bosal stainless steel exhaust system. Engine is cooled by a custom C&R radiator. The car also uses an AFX race computer.
Engine produces 200 crankshaft HP, and the nitrous system is tunable to an additional 250 HP. The engine is build strong enough to handle the full 250 shot and more.
Transmission
The transmission is a Performance Automatic build A670 three speed. The fully built transmission features red line clutches and koleen steel spacers. An Alabama 3000 stall speed converter is used. If you intend to drive it daily, I would probably replace that with a standard converter
Wheels, Tires, Brake and Suspension
Brakes are Power Slot rotors with Hawk brake pads. Suspension is KYB GR2 struts, with Drop Zone lowering springs. Wheels are Velox 18x7.5's with BF Goodrich g-Force KD's
