Well we will skip ahead to transmission stuff..
After getting the engine and transmission separated it became obvious the transmission case needed repair. The area around the input shaft had been severely worn and would need conciderable weld work if to be used again. Brian Waters of Blue Waters Racing in Oregon (the guy helpin me with this project) happened to have a four synchro S remote transmission laying around. It was a gold seal rebuild and was in excellent shape. SOLD! We decided to dismantle it completely just to make sure all is good.

Here is after it was thru the solvent tank and bead blaster. I also cleaned the gears and bearings.

Now for re assembly! ALL of the original bearings were reused. They were in excellent condition and I seriously doubt that transmission had less than a few thousand miles on it if that. The only gear to show wear at all was reverse. I replaced all the synchros since we were in there.

Everything went together perfectly. I also ordered a heavy duty cross pin diff and hardy spicer joints. Heres another pic of the inside of the tranny. This is the shift rods and gear selector
