Project is to turn a neon into a SCCA Improved Touring race car. Budget about $7000. bought a salvage titled vehicle, straight frame but some body damage along the passenger side - passenger door and front fender replaced and back quarter panel needed some work. this is my first project doing any major car work. first time using bondo and spray painting. came out with some orange peel but for a race car will be cool - sanding and polishing helped but not competely. color was matched to Dodge Viper Metallic Pearlescent.

also purchased 6061 aluminum tubing and block for custom fabricated aluminum coil over strut housings. inserts will be shortened double adjustable 8611 konis.

First Round of Upgrades;

started this week on upgrades. While driving the car around ithe shop for body work and painting the differntial punched a hole in the case and locked up. So found a 3.94 final drive ratio transmission to go in. Also while pulling the transmission ill be adding prothane motor/transmission mounts and prothane bushings on the control arms. also going in are ACR hub & bearing kits, hawk pads, the rotors will be turned. trying to decide on a clutch kit and lsd. figure nows the time while the transmission is out. picts to follow soon.

more parts ordered - acr hub and bearing kits for front, hawk hp plus pads for front, motul rbf600 brake fluid, redline mtl, redline water wetter, redline fuel injector cleaner.

most of the front suspension is off/hanging or loose and everything is disconnected from transmission.

just waiting for redline mtl to drop the old and in with 3.94.

cant wait to try these out

more parts - GC camber plates and koni double adjustables race valved front and back.

car moved outside until flywheel shows up. mounting prothane bushings in the meantime.
