Its time to make some more power. I installed a nitrious plate kit and should be ready to start spraying here soon. I had to run different fuel lines, a fuel log, 2 regualtors, I think it turned out pretty good.

These pics are from my most recent event (below). I ran the Super Chevy show races this past weekend. I was in the DOT class and I ran the True Street event that is like an extra race inside the DOT class. The True Street event consitits of a 18-20 mile cruise and 3 back to back to back passes without touching the car. The only thing you can do is lower the rear tire pressure. They have a overall winner and a winer of each time. The person that is cloesest to the 10.0, 11.0,12.0 etc. etc. I was on my way to winning the 10.0 index when for some reason my car cut off on the way back down return road. I did everything possible before I checked to see if I was out of gas. I finally had to pop the hatch and check the cell. I had plenty of fuel so I had to pop the hood which is not allowed during this event. Thats why its called True Street. Well for whatever reason after the car sat for a while it fired right up so I jumped out closed the hood and ran down to the lanes where I called the Super Chevy offical over to explain what had happened and to let him know. He told me to make my 3rd pass and we'll see what happens. Well I made my passes and I ran a 10.09, 10.02, 10.03 so I pretty much killed the 10.0 index field but had to be disqualified for popping my hood. He thanked me for being honest and is hoping to see me next year.

I WILL BE BACK FOR REDEMPTION.

Well here it is the long awaited Pro Systems 1000 CFM 4150 carb. Its flowed and ready to go.

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

So you think you want to go fast huh? Well not only does the price of getting there almost kill you but then you have to have all this other saftey stuff once you hit 9.99 or 135 MPH. I am not complaing one bit I know in case of an emergency this stuff could save me but damn just one more expense. The next phase of this is the trans and all the saftey componets that are required for the trans. I have to run a flexplate sheild and a trans sheild. For this I went with a JW bell housing which means I have to cut off the factory bell housing and bolt this new one to the front of the pump. These cars wont allow any use of a flexplate sheild so you have to run a JW bell housing. Then not only is that required but then you have to run a trans sheild to protect you from a transmission explosing. Here are some before, during, and after pics of cutting off the bell housing. I had never done this before so I was a little nervous. It came out pretty good though.

Here,s the bell housing all cut off and ready for the new bell housing.

This is what the trans will look like once I get the install kit and bolt the new bell housing on the trans though the front pump.

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

For the trans sheild I went with a HUGHES performace sheild.

So I started to do a "Mini Tubb" on the car. I want to be able to run a 295/65 Mickey Thompson drag radial. I got a set of used pro stars 15x10's with a 6.5 backspacing. I had to cut out the bump stop area on the car and put a flat peice of steel there to gain some room. I also had to cut out some of the inner fender well. I will be able to put back all the oringinal interior and it will still look stock. It really fills the fender wells up good. I had a 275/60 drag radial on it before and still have those rims
and tires for certain classes. I will post pics of the finished results when I get them done.

YES ITS STILL A SMALL TIRE.

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro  bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

Here is a side by side compairison of the 295 and 275. I would like to lower the car just a little in the back now to tuck the tire up a little more. It fills the wheel opening more, looks much better now.

Well Finally after a couple weeks of calling JEGS and JESEL and getting the right parts for the right heads we are back and running. Thankfully I have a great engine builder that stood behind his work even though this really wasn't his fault. What happend was that JEGS has a JESEL shaft rocker arm kit listed for AFR 227 heads. Well what they dont have listed is weather or not there for the new ELIMINATOR heads or the old style heads. I have the new style heads and the rocker kit that I had which JEGS has listed is for the old style heads. Well after many phone calls to JEGS we got everything straight and I didnt lose anything but time. Everything is good now. Hopefully I will be at the track very soon. This is the new exhuast vid

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

Nope this is NOT a old picture. During start up we could not stand to be in the garage when this new motor was running. I had borrowed a 1050 Dominator from a friend and we just figured it was way to big even though Pro Systems said that I need a 1000 cfm. So I borrwed yet another carb from a friend this one was a 780, knowing this one was going to be to small I just wanted to get the motor broke in and check the timing. Well we had the same results couldn't stand being in the garage while it was running. I also had water in the oil which we all know is very bad. Well I called the builder and he said bring it up and we can tear into it. What we found was the intake gaskets were not crushed and the bottom half of the intake gaskets were soaked with oil. The inatake was not sealed right for some reason and it was sucking oil into the intake valves and buring oil, also letting water to get into the oil. The builder is going to deck the intake for a true surface. We still tore the whole motor down so it can all be washed to get the water and oil out of the places that it doesnt belong. I also had # 3 and # 5 intake valves hitting the top of the pistons but no damage was done. If you were to take your finger and run it across the piston where it was hit you can't feel a ridge. I will have this back in no time though, there is no damage and its just a matter of time and gaskets now. The only thing I have lost is time the builder is taking full responibilty for this as he should. Check back in a couple days to see how it runs after all this gets fixed.

I have to say thanks to my girlfriend, Samantha. She helped me out thurs night starting at like 5 or so and we got this thing pulled out and on the stand in about 2 1/2 hrs.

We were so close to go to the track that my dog NITRO was ready to go with us.

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

The next mill is a 421, with a GM Bowtie block 4 bolt splayed caps, Lunati 4340 Non Twist steel forged crank, AFR 227 race ready heads, Jesel shaft mount 1.5 rockers, Comp cam, ROSS custom pistons, Crower rods, Crower Hippo lifters, Manley chrome moly push rods, ATI super dampner, with around 650 H.P. The specs on the cam are .661 intk/.633 exh. 108 lobe seperation, lift at .050 lift is .276 int./.283 exh. 4/7 swap firing order. The intake is a GM bowtie race single plane 4150 style.

Finally after 1 year and about 3 months and A LOT of $ its almost ready for the track.

 IT RUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The carb is to big we couldnt get the thing to idle down to what we needed it to. We went down with the fuel pressure and it dropped it some but not what we needed. The fuel pressure was low when it starts popping. It was very responsive with the fuel pressure up but it was at like 4k rpms, but when I smacked the pedal it reved quick. Now to get the right carb and a driveshaft, and we can go racing.

Well Here is the latest pics, the carb is a 1050 Dominator that I borrwed from a good friend. I hope to fire this thing up within the next couple days. Cross your finger for 8/30/08

This is the panel we made to hold all the msd and ignition. It is mounted up under the passenger side dash. Once the plastic stock panel goes back on the only thing u see is the MSD box sticking out.

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro  bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

I made up a new shifter plate and put all my switches in it, tunred out pretty good. No radio cant hear it anyway, just the important gauges.

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

OK here are a few more parts that I got from JEGS and got them on. Polished Meziere electric water pump, March alternator bracket, MSD crank trigger. Its really getting close now.

I got the intake back from JET HOT it turned out great. We got that on and the disributor installed.

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

OK I am getting closer, I got the headers, starter, battery, gauges, and fuel pump all ready to go.

It's in, and it went in very easy. That was a shock, now I just need the rest of the parts to go with it and get this thing fired up!!!!

I got the brakes all finished up and the line lock working. I think it turned out pretty good.

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

Finally back from paint,

The paint work was needed in the first place because I wanted to swap to a manual brake kit. I think it cleans up the engine bay and it will sereve its purpose on this car. This is what the firewall looks like now. I just need to order my kit and install the new one, and have it all painted again.

I Got some more work to do on the firewall, but its getting there.

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

Well this is the final coat of filler. After this gets sanded it just needs to be primed and painted. I got to say a very BIG thank you to Joe (A.K.A. SipesRacing) and especially his dad. I coudn't have done it without them.

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

FINALLY PRIMED

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

I had my axles drilled and tapped for 5/8 studs so I wont lose any axles at the track.

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

I finally got the window net installed the other day. Its a RJS ribbon net. Installation was pretty easy. As you can see I still need to finish putting the interior back in.

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

Well I did some modifing on the back half of the car and went from the fuel cell being exposed to hidden.
This is what it looks like now

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

How do I fill the cell you ask well I just flip up the panel and fill it up like this. The interior is going back in but I was painting so its out till it dries.

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

This is another mod/swap that I wanted to do while the car was apart. I had electric windows in my car and they were a pain in the but. When I raced it and was strapped in I had to have someone open my door and help the window up. I had new motors installed and still the same problem. So I found some manual regualtors on EBAY and swapped over to cranks and this is what the panels looks like now with the cranks on it. I know some of you are thinking switching to manual windows are you nuts, that is a step backwards. I can put the window up faster then the power. You would never know that it had power by looking at these panels.

bluebeast8383's 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

This is the oil pan I will be running on this motor. It is a MOROSO street/ strip pan part # 21017. This pan has the built in windage tray and crank scrapper. This will hopefully free up some ponies.
