This is my first project car. Its a 1984 Toyota Celica GTS. I bought this Celica under fairly good conditions from its second owner. It had some suspension problems and several other little things that had to be fixed. It was totaly stock when I bought it. I have taken care of most of the little things this car needed to be in good mechanical conditions. As far as the body goes, she is in great shape. For now the Black Bottom Project is in testing stage. I have been running the car with no mods to see how far the car can be pushed. Its a car that I belive is ahead of its time. The handling is excelent making the 3rd Generation Celica a very popular choice in the Auto Cross world. So far I've experimented with several of very simple modifications in my car. Some of the mods include open element intake and some suspension braceing. As of now, I don't know what I will be prepering the car for. I am split between Drifting and autocross. It is powered by a 22RE engine. Extremely reliable and can take a good beating. These engines are damn near bulletproof and in the stock form produce anywhere between 105 to 115 horses. Unlike its bigger brother, the MKII Celica Supra, these cars where not equipped with LSD which is needed in order to drift. Because of the IRS, the celica is a very good car to refine the drivers drift technique due to the fact that the car simply sticks and does not want to let go when taking corners.
Here is a shot of the original state of purchase. This is a shot of the engine close to stock form. The Strut Tower bar is modified from a Cusco 240sx bar. The modification was the enlergment of the center of the hoop to fit the upper part of the Strut hat I got rid of the "drum" filter housing it had and replaced it with an open element intake. The rear part of the car was stripped. The front was left untouched as far as the striping goes. I modified the shifter to get rid of the almost 8" shaft it came with. For now that stock wheel stands, however I might just swap it with something smaller. Here are some random shots of my RA65. ***This Page is brought to you by:***

If you haven't looked into it already, I recommend getting a LSD out of a MKII supra.

I Love the 3rd gen celicas. My little bro has one and I loved it so much that I ended up buying a MKII Supra. Check out my ride some time and my bro's. If you haven't already, check out www.celica-gts.com, tons of stuff about 3rd gen celicas there. Good luck on your project and keep good care of her!
