$700 bucks, what a steal! 1982 300sd turbo diesel
This is a 1982 300sd turbo diesel
Granted It was in sad shape, driver rear window inop(kept falling, regulator was bad). passenger front window inop.,(bad motor). Rear window intact but broken. climate control inop. and as you drive, oil would actually start sliding up the hood. The high pressure oil cooling line had 7, yes 7 hose clamps on it.
Let's see now. one motor mount was busted, both rear brake callipers were frozen with rust and all the rotors were bad. The trunk leaked(needed a new seal)
Then the interior, no lights, dome, dash, console or anything and no it wasn't a fuse or bulbs. The electric seat switches were physically broken off and when I replaced those the driver side still didn't work. It had an open ground. The driver seat bottom had busted springs.
Whew! a lot of work for someone who never worked on a german car before. I saved an absolute fortune by buying most of my parts from "PULL A PART" a local but great junk yard. As they say "the hottest little strip joint in town"
If anybody really knows their stuff about this car I would love to chat and educate myself about it. my e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks for looking!
Here are a few shots of my ride
You can see in the background the old rear window
My sons project in the background in this one
The one under tarp is his real project, the other one is, well, a rust bucket.
