hypr383's 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air

HYPR'S '56 210 2 Door Sedan. After 3 years of work the car is finally done. Well ok they're never really done. During a recent trip up to the Goodguys show in Pleasanton we were surprised that cruising at 90 mph when you stand on it the car would lurch forward with so much force that you were pinned to the seat back and it would climb to over 120 in a blink! A pleasant surprise!
The car is featured on the promotional materials for the upcoming 2006 Golden Anniversary Show after winning "Best Of Class" for '56 Chevy Custom at the 2005 show.
Take a look inside to see all the work to transform a rough driver into what you see here.

Recently I have been doing some upgrades and adding some special touches. We have installed a Classic Air A/C system in the car to keep it cool inside on long trips (no trailer queen!). The 10 bolt Posi rear with 3.42's came out and in went a 12 bolt Posi with 4.11's.  We improved the car's stopping power by upgrading the braking from a GM 4 wheel disc set up with a conventional Power brake set up to Wilwood 12.19" rotors with 4 piston calipers on all 4 corners assisted by a Hydraboost system. We upgraded the steering by installing a MAVAL Rack and Pinion. Now that the car has some serious stopping power and improved steering it is time to re-focus our attention on the engine, so stay tuned for more upgrades! MORE POWER!!!

These are sort of the before and after shots seeing's how they are before and after paint. Sittin' low awaiting new colors! New 383 stroker putting down enough power to break 'em loose at 50mph even with some monster meats out back! Now I'm smillin'!

New colors, ready for reassembly. Take a look inside and see how I got this way!
