ENGINE
In modifying the engine we use a lot of parts imported from the U.S. or customized our own. One thing you won´t see in these pictures is a Sportchip to replace the one in the OEM ECM unit. This give us 10% more power and no speed cutoff plus much smoother shifts. We looked at GIAC but weren´t satisfied with that option.
We painted the engine cover red and polished the metal area in front of it. Red goes great with a black car.
Some stickers on the hood.
A Weapon-R air filter. Very rare to find one of these in Mexico. The original owner of this VR6 originally had a Neuspeed P-Flo system but there were a lot of missing pieces. For the track, we actually use a K&N filter shown in the second photo. The Weapon-R filter actually sucks for power but is great for car shows. At the track, we stick to a K&N air filter.
We custom designed our own heat shield in place of one of the missing pieces and you will notice it in the two pictures above.
A custom sway bar.
We installed Nology Hot Wires. These hookup to Torque Master Spark Plugs, which are among the most powerful plugs in the world. Made in the United States and they are very similar to Bosch´s 4-prong plugs. This gives us a huge spark and a lot of power.
The electrical components of my VR6 include an Optima Red Top 34/78 Battery, the most powerful they make.
We also installed the Sun Automobile Hyperground Kit (Series-S). This grounding kit is made in Japan and uses 99.9% copper wires to give super grounding and more horsepower. This kit includes 5 wires that go from the negative side of the battery to various metal points in the engine bay. We used the engine block and the passenger side shock assembly as part of our main endpoints for this system. Again, very rare in Mexico.
We did not stop there and also added the Sun Automobile Hypervoltage Kit (Multirange) to stabilize the voltage for even more horspower. Note the custom mount we made for it. The green light alternates red to indicate the battery is okay. Also notice the DB Fuse. We need to say it again, you will rarely find this in Mexico.
Unorthodox Racing Pulleys. This 3 piece lightweight pulley set is probably the best there is for the VR6. We looked at Eurosport and Neuspeed, but decided on Unorthodox. They really do not exist in Mexico. A lot better acceleration. Feels like a lot of extra torque. No power issues since we have the Optima battery, grounding and hypervoltage kits.
Matrix Air Cooler. Looks like an intercooler. We are hooking this device up to bring in more power in the form of cooler air to the engine. Right now we finalizing the tubing, so that it takes in cool air from here and also the lower part of the car with another tube near the air filter.
Although it is not shown here, we also added a Eurosport fan switch and low temperature sport thermostat along with 4 bottles of Nology NotHot coolant additive. I now use Castrol Syntec 0W30 (a.k.a. German Castrol) and ATE SuperBlue brake fluid. We use Mobil 1 ATF for the PSF fluid.
OTHER
You might see us at various car shows such as the Fast and the Furious Series or the annual car show in Zitacuaro, Michoacan where I have won 3rd and 1st prizes. Some nights you can find me at the race track, Pista Aceleración Tlalnepantla, in the Tlalnepantla, Mexico State in Colonia San Jerónimo Tepetlacalco as shown below.
