The story behind this car is strange. Tweety is a replacement for a car we lost last September to a drunk driver. That car was a 1977 Olds Regency 98 a four door Sedan, bright yellow with a light brown vinyl roof, we called it Big Bird. The car had been in our family since it was brand new, and since it was also built the same year our daughter was born, and the car was given to us as a gesture of thanks from Mike's Aunt and Uncle. It was a very special car to us. Mike goes out every summer to help with the wheat harvest. He takes a week or two vacation to do this and refuses to accept any money from his Aunt and Uncle. He calls his time on the farm his "theapy" it gives him a chance to "get away from it all". When his Aunt and Uncle bought a new car, they gave Mike the Olds instead of trading it in. We had the car about seven years, and our daughter had the car in Kansas City to get her to and from work. The car quit on her and she had it parked along hiway 169 in Kansas City, and a drunk hit it later than night.

All summer long Mike and I couldn't help but notice a car at the same guy we bought our 66 Pontiac from. It was a Chevy Caprice 4dr Sedan, that looked so much like Big Bird, we marveled at it all summer. Outside it being A Chevrolet, it was a dead ringer for Big Bird, right down to the light tan vinyl top, and bright yellow paint. When we learned the fate of Big Bird, we went to see Jim. Much to our disappointment, when we got to the lot there was a Sold sign on this car. Since we drove Kool Kat to the lot, Jim recognized us immediately, and came out to talk to us. He asked us if we were interested in the Caprice, and we told him about Big Bird. Jim said a guy had paid him $150.00 six weeks earlier, said he would be back the following week, and Jim still hadn't seen him, and if we really wanted the car, he would sell it to us for what he had invested in the car, since we had already bought one car from us, he made us a heck of a deal. We bought the car the following day. The Caprice doesn't have all the bells and whistles on it that Big Bird had, and I REALLY miss the power door locks, but this car had 60,000 original miles on it and actually WAS owned by a little old lady. The car had 107 miles since it's last oil change, and the date of the change was 10-31-03!!! The first thing the car lost was the compass mounted on the dashboard, and the hideous ugly green floor mats in it. We also yanked the ugly Caprice Hubcaps and installed a set of lancer's on it. A must for our "gofer" that we plan on using at some of the car shows next year to get us around while the "show" cars stay at the show.

Since we couldn't bring ourselves to call the car Big Bird, we have named it TWEETY instead. The car has a full set of tweety floor mats, a tweety bird hanging off the rear view mirror and of course a set of yellow fuzzy dice. No self respecting customizer doesn't own a car that doesn't have a set of fuzzy dice!!!!

After loosing five of the six "lancer" hubcaps, we decided to come up with something that would STAY on. After a trip to the big SWAP meet here in Doo Dah, we came home with these smoothies for Tweety, Improves the looks a lot.
