What is a Pontiac FORMULA Firebird?

The Firebird TRANS AM model of the Pontiac Firebird is thought of as the better of all the Firebirds, but us FORMULA owners tend to disagree.

The Formula model is less recognized because some people don't understand that it isn't a V6 Firebird, or a Trans Am. The reason is the FORMULA is a much rarer car produced in much less numbers.

To give an example of the rarity of Formula's I will use production numbers for 1979...my car's year.
*Firebird V6: 38,642
*Trans Am: 117,108
*Formula: 20,851

Now think how many of these Formula's are left today.

The name derived from racing. As the Trans Am was named from the Trans-American racing series, the Formula was named from Formula One racing.
